BA_Harrison Rapist vampire Caleb Croft (Michael Pataki) rises from his tomb to attack a young couple courting in the cemetery, sinking his fangs into the young man, draining him of his blood, and sinking his dick into the girl, getting her up the duff. Nine months later, the girl gives birth to a half-vampire son James, who she feeds on her own blood (he doesn't take to breast milk), a course of action that ultimately costs her her life. Years later, James (William Smith), now a stocky young man, encounters Croft working at a night school as Professor Lockwood, and sets out to teach the wicked bloodsucker a lesson of his own. After a novel opening, Grave of the Vampire becomes fairly mediocre fare, with very little in the way of decent scares, atmosphere, or gore, although there is a reasonably interesting subplot involving a young woman who wants to become Croft's vampire bride that prevents total boredom from setting in. The film does, however, manage to end on a high with a rousing finale that sees Lockwood/Croft arranging a seance in an attempt to allow the spirit of his dead wife to possess James' girlfriend Anne (Lyn Peters); after this plan backfires, the evil vampire slaughters the other participants in the seance, and goes head to head with James in a battle to the death that is surprisingly well choreographed with some decent stunt-work.6.5/10, rounded up to 7 for IMDb.
dworldeater Grave Of The Vampire is a very low budget 70's horror movie that was made quick and cheap. However, what it may lack with poor production value and editing, Grave Of The Vampire had some fresh ideas and has an interesting take on the vampire genre. When vampire Caleb Croft awakes for a midnight snack and attacks a couple, he feeds off the blood of the boyfriend and rapes the girlfriend, leaving her pregnant. The mother, against the idea of abortion gives birth to the child. The child is half vampire and needs blood to survive. The child grows up and is B movie bad ass William Smith and vows revenge on his father for making his mother suffer and plans to put an end to his evil for good. William Smith is of course, awesome and Michael Pataki gives a good, campy performance as Caleb Croft. Plus, he had some wicked sideburns to boot! There is a grim tone to the film as well as dark ambiance. If Grave Of The Vampire had a larger budget and the right director, this film could have been huge. Even still, I found this to be very entertaining and original. Also as a fan of William Smith, I loved his performance as he kills it as the lead actor in this film.
a_baron Lovers smooching in a graveyard – you take me to the nicest places, darling – when their canoodling is interrupted by an intruder who opens his coffin, rips off the car door, murders the teenager in love, and rapes his sweetheart. Fortunately the rape is implied rather than explicit, but this is a strange beginning even for a vampire flick. One person is wise to what has happened, a detective who has obviously seen one too many Bela Lugosi film; we are told as much. Unfortunately, America's answer to Sherlock Holmes is murdered around half hour into the film. By whom? You guessed. So what happens to our rape victim? She becomes pregnant, convinces herself the baby belongs to her dead boyfriend – which does rather make one wonder what her mother told her about the birds and the bees – and keeps the baby. Baby is born and we fast-forward twenty or so years, when baby's mission in life is revealed – to kill his father. Murder is a bit of a strong word, come to think of it, so is kill. So who is Daddy? Would you believe a college lecturer? Teaching evening classes of course. Well, sure beats lying in that coffin all night. We are spared little details such as what he put on his CV and how he obtained his fake identity, but clearly he must be stopped, because he's been a busy lad since he impregnated that wench in the cemetery, indeed he murders another innocent girl a few minutes before his son succeeds in tracking him down.Do you really want to hear anymore?
Red-Barracuda Grave of the Vampire opens with a vampire rising from his grave and attacking a young couple who have decided for reasons only known to themselves to make out in a graveyard in the dead of night. The vampire kills the guy and rapes the girl. She subsequently gives birth to a human-vampire hybrid. The boy grows up with a hatred of his vampire father and seeks him out for vengeance. You would have to say that this one is certainly a slightly left-field vampire tale. The idea of a half-vampire seeking revenge is not the usual script in this sub-genre; likewise the idea of a vampire who goes around raping and sexually assaulting women is hardly textbook stuff. The vampire in question is a night school lecturer who teaches the occult. One of his students even wants him to vampirize her! So at the very least, Grave of the Vampire has a few unusual ideas. But the movie also is a very low-budgeted one and the cheapness does at times detrimentally effect the overall whole. It does seem a bit clunky irrespective of the interesting set-up. Worth watching if you like scuzzy 70's movies but it's best not to expect too much.
