Evil_Herbivore I'm a big fan of the Hellraiser franchise. Of course, there are some parts are like more than other and I do believe that at one point the franchise started to deteriorate. I found the last few movies pretty disappointing, but it turns out they were nothing compared to Hellraiser: Judgement. The plot is poorly constructed and for a larger part of the movie I had the feeling I was actually watching two stories which are only tangentially connected: one about demons and one about a typical boring cop duo trying to catch a typical boring serial killer. And sadly neither of these is interesting. The cops' story is as stereotypical as they come: two policemen with very different world views are hunting a serial killer murdering people because of their sins. This is a trope that's been used over and over again and in Hellraiser: Judgement we don't see anything new. The writing seems truly lazy here and I can't find one good thing to say about it.The demons' part of the movie is simply gross. Hellraiser movies have always been bloody and violent and I had nothing against that, because I felt that it was their way of showing some pretty universal truth about the nature of desire and lust. What I don't remember them being - at least to the extreme seen here - is disgusting. We get naked demon girls judging people by touching vomit. We get them showered in blood. We get a living animal sawn into a dead woman's womb. Torture scenes look more like Hostel than Hellraiser and I found the gore excessive and unnecessary. To make things even worse, the character which has always interested me the most, that is Pinhead, is hardly in the movie. A new demon is introduced and for the first part of the movie Pinhead just sits in a chair and speaks only a few words. Luckily, in the last 15 minutes of the movie there is more of him and that is the only fragment that really feels like Hellraiser. Only this last part redeems the movie and stops me from giving it a one-star review.
sian_b_badger To the makers of the film - you think that was hell? Please.I work a 37.5 hour a week job, in which I do the same work every day, yet the amount of work never reduces. On top of that, I spend an hour a day pedalling relentlessly on an exercise bike & try to make sensible food choices when all I want to do is eat cheeseburgers....This is all I could think whilst watching this film on the bike. Take that however you will - perhaps it was the awful acting (I have seen better actors at a school nativity play) or my own personal rage *shrugs*.
georgiakrit-912-26729 WOW. I love how film makers think its okay to use a film title to hook horror lovers in, only to realise the film was a complete and utter waste of time.FIRSTLY: can they please PLEASE stop trying to remake Hellraiser, no ONE can recreate the original pinhead, those films are a classic!.SECONDLY: this film was weird and original i will give it that, how ever WTF, it wasn't even centred around pinhead, he was just in some scenes in a super weird way., It was just so so disappointing, they just need to stop. For the love of horror, just stop.
Michael Ledo Brothers Sean (Damon Carney) and David (Randy Wayne) are detectives investigating odd serial killings that are biblical in nature. They are aided by Christine (Alexandra Harris). There is a judgement going on, as people are killed in a manner of their life vice, or crime. Some people are taken to a home where our Hellraiser crew is located, although they don't come in hot and heavy until the last 10 minutes of the feature. There is a puzzle box, but it doesn't operate as cool as it has in the past.Guide: F-word. Nudity.
