Reviews

nahidfarzana Started watching after reading a review about this movie. The review portrayed a very interesting, enjoyable movie which the movie failed to portray. The lead actors were good at the beginning of the film. With time they started to lose their ability to connect you with the story. Even with Samantha, it felt like her voice was loosing interest from the story. Duration (2 hrs) felt like too long to portray their relationship and getting to the end. It always amuses me how people fail to communicate with loved ones, but sometimes open up to somebody else so effectively. I did not understand the costume design though, why the old fashion line from decades ago?! In some scenes, it looked weird and funny, specially for men. The ending was beautiful portraying the difference between the feelings of human and AI. It showed one of the major problem humans have in their relationship/love life, the urge to have everything for themselves only.
vikasjoshi-99705 I am spellbound ..How to praise such a heart touching concept , performances & direction ..One of the best movie of world cinema indeed .spike zones created a unparelled ,outstanding ,top class masterpiece ..Career best performance by Joaquin phoenix ..But can you forget scarlett johnson( OS )..No..No..She is not in movie .But only her deeply touching voice made a big difference between a ordinary movie & master piece .. Great movie ..
Michael Ledo Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) composes beautifully hand written letters for a living. He is lost in his work and world of futuristic electronic gadgets. His wife (Rooney Mara) has filed for divorce. He buys the next best thing in computers, an operating system that thinks for itself. At this point the weird sets in as Theodore develops a strong emotional attachment for his OS Samantha (Scarlett Johansson) as does Samantha for him.The film doesn't evolve into the jealous computer comedy I had hoped for, but rather examines the lives humans have developed for their computers and how it effects our human relationships; how we actually prefer to be with our electronic devices more than each other. It reminds me of those family reunions when we all get together in the same room, and everyone is on their own computing/smart device. The film gives a whole new meaning to "computer dating." This is some what of a chick flick, in that it deals with emotions and relationships. It goes deep into attempting to understand ourselves. This movie is on the arty side. A long two hours as it is character driven. Not for everyone.Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity
marianadiazdiaz "The movie "Her" has a very strong critique of our society because it shows a total dependence on technology even with something so personal and special as love is, as relationships are. This shows how nowadays men and women are scared of relationships so they opt for the solution technology is offering; a perfect relationship, a platonic love where everything goes well. The meaning of love in this post modern world has been lost and deconstructed. Love now is whatever I can take from the other person and if I don't get it, then it doesn't work for me anymore and that was the case with Theodore, he couldn't find what he wanted in Catherine, so the best alternative to fill that emptiness and loneliness that he was feeling was Samantha. The real meaning of love is to give and do it unconditionally even if you don't get anything for yourself, it's not selfish and it's abundant. I think as we watch this movie we should not only enjoy its beauty, but also try to realize what the real message behind is and in this case I think is realizing that technology is bringing social loneliness faster than we thought it could and we need to realize it soon to be able to not let it come to this.
