This is the first time I've written a review. I'm writing one now because what I'm seeing for reviews are way off base. The movie is very good. It keeps your attention. Ties all of the pieces together. The acting isn't the best, but it's not the worse either. It's worth your 2 hours.

RELEASED IN 2016 and written & directed by Guisela Moro, "Hollow Creek" chronicles events in the heart of West Virginia when a popular horror writer (Steve Daron) retreats to a vacation home with his girlfriend (Guisela Moro). Strange things start happening; then everything goes awry. Burt Reynolds is featured in a couple sequences.The movie starts like it's going to be a 'cabin in the woods' flick, except with adults in their mid-to-late 40s. But the story quickly veers from that standard plot in the second act. This is a crime thriller with ghostly elements rather than typical ghost/slasher horror. The movie compellingly shows how facts can be misinterpreted and a person wrongly judged.Some of the acting by the peripherals isn't so great (e.g. the cops in the last act) but, then, the movie only cost $500,000 and Moro had to take what she could get. But the main cast members are all convincing.The issue of sexual immorality is raised and how "Your sin will find you out," but this is later balanced out with God's grace. We've all effed up, one way or another, and desperately need grace in order to have hope and live free. The film works up some haunting ambiance and the West Virginia locations are a plus.THE MOVIE RUNS 1 hour 56 minutes and was shot in West Virginia (Wyoming County, Pineville, Mullens, Ritchie County, Harrisville). Movie was very suspenseful. The story line was very intriguing. The fast pace from directing, editing and plot was like a real "page turner". There was never a dull moment.I loved the main characters. The acting was good and believable. Steve Daron was so so handsome making me wish we could see him in more movies. Most of the men in Hollywood are not very attractive making me think there is something wrong in the gene pool. My only criticism is that the crazy characters overacted. Perhaps reasons people did not like the film were because there were no grisly murders, no major explosions and no sex. Sadly these are the typical ingredients used to determine a successful film. I found the movie exciting and highly recommend it.

It is a beautiful movie that shows a story more as it nearly could be "based on a true story". You can watch this movie on a weekend at home. I personally liked it, it shows you the real sacrifice of a lover and how far he is willing to go to save his true love. Despite losing his career after his affair was exposed to the public as a well known writer and a married man, he didn't care, to the point he stayed 5 months searching for his lover and doing a job that the police should have had done. If this movie was based on a true story, you will easily believe it. However, I believe that the title of the movie was chosen wrongly. I really enjoyed the movie, it's a story that you can enjoy watching and the acts are really good , especially Guisela Moro, her acting was outstanding. This movie shows you the loyalty of long term friendship , love, betrayal, strangers helping other strangers and police involvement. It's a great movie to watch but not suitable for children under 15.
