Paul Magne Haakonsen This movie really took my by surprise, especially since I had initially expected to be another one of those mass-produced, questionable disaster movies with bad CGI effects, laughable acting and a lack of plot. But it turned out that "Into the Storm" was anything but that. This was really one of the best disaster movies that I have had the fortune of stumbling upon which I did by sheer random luck. The storyline was good, and it wasn't the usual small group of people beating Mother Nature with time running out and saving the entire world. So that was a refreshing change of pace. They had some really nice actors and actresses on the cast list, whom were doing great jobs in bringing their characters to life on the screen. Now what really blew me away was the CGI effects and the sound effects. It was just phenomenal. And I am thrilled to find movies like this to use with my sound system, as this movie really had some impressive sounds. The whole sound in itself was really a layer that added so much to the movie. If you enjoy disaster movies, then you should definitely give "Into the Storm" a go. It is rare that an outstanding disaster movie comes along, "Into the Storm" turned out to be one of those rare instances.
EBJ Overall: A lazy, boring atrocity and is just a bad movie with little to redeem it.Good: The visuals are actually quite good and the destruction looks quite cool.Bad: The characters were just bland and unlikeable blobs that run the story. You don't care at all about them and couldn't care less if they survive or not. I have no idea how these people got the part; it actually baffles me. The plot was so stupid and had an over abundance of stupid, unlikeable characters to drag on a leash. It is very clichéd and so boring. The cinematography was bad rapidly switching between found footage and professional camera-work which is just frustrating.Best Part: The destruction scene at the airport was incredible and truly showed the potential of this movie.MVP: Matt Walsh as Pete4/10
SnoopyStyle Pete (Matt Walsh) leads a group of storm chasers in the armored Titus. He's frustrated with Allison (Sarah Wayne Callies) for missing another tornado that killed some Oklahoman teens. She directs them to the town of Silverton. The local high school is caught in the storm. Vice principal Gary Fuller (Richard Armitage) has his grumpy sons Trey and Donnie film for the school's time capsule. Donnie has a crush on Kaitlyn Johnston and takes off to help her film an abandoned paper mill. Donk and Reevis are local Jackass wannabes.Eighteen years before, Twister blew into the theaters. This one uses more modern CGI with lots of rain and destruction. Twister is not at an award-winning acting level but this one is at a lower level. The characters are less well-drawn and less compelling. Sometimes, the group makes some illogical moves. They leave their 'tank' and run outside ending up in a church. The point seems to be a guy getting swept up into a fire tornado. There is another flying cow but this one doesn't have its 'flying cow' moment. The CGI is probably bigger but it's not quite as memorable. Twister was ground breaking at the time but this one is only a few steps above a TV Sharknado movie.
Chappy Watched Like a lot of comedy movies, the best parts were definitely in the trailer for this film. The tornadoes are by far the best parts of the film starring alongside characters that you couldn't care less about. There is a little awesome nod to Twister in the film with a fake cow flying through the air. It's a predictable movie with no real story; just a lot of running back and forth, it does have some impressive scenes and some awesome special effects but Twister was a lot better! No real loss if you don't watch it. I won't be watching it again.
