Reviews

tahersuratwala I created an account just so that I could write this review. The movie starts out slow, but it gets so good after the first half. This movie gets better each time and the animation is amazing. It's hard to believe no computers were used! This is a true work of art. It isn't often that I would consider something art, but this is special. I typically prefer action movies and other movies that don't require a lot of mental energy, but this movie has totally changed my perspective. A movie of this quality comes along once in a generation. I hope I'm lucky enough to see this kind of genius again. BEST MOVIE EVER!!!
Mariana Pereira A surprising amount of humanity for a stick-figure animation. The animation, as well as the score, adds a lot to the overall existential drama and suspense of the movie as a whole. Very emotional and will keep you guessing on how much deeper it will go into the human psyche and mind. Because the animation is so minimal - yet so powerful - it focuses a lot more on the human stream of consciousness as well as developing a compelling and heartfelt story. The narration also adds a personal connection to the character of the story. Do no underestimate this film for its simplicity, as it will delve inside the tiniest human memory and then expand through all of space and time.
Athena Hiotis What I can tell you is that "It's Such a Beautiful Life" will resonate with you in such a deep way. It had been sitting in my Netflix queue for some time and I'm not exactly sure why I watched it when I did. It was random, middle of the day on a Saturday. Five minutes into it, I had to pause to prepare for what I knew this was going to be: a beautiful tapestry of thoughts and philosophies charged with meaning. There were instances where certain things were said and words appeared on screen with timing that was just perfect and my breath was literally stolen from me. By the end of the short, I had to just bury my head in my hands and just cry. Not because it was overly sad or anything, but because it was reverberating with me so much. It was as though you've known this all along but had long forgotten - like it was from a past life. You WILL enjoy this film whether you are seeking some sort of existential comfort; if you are a fan of Don's work; or you're just curious about it. It's very much like previous shorts of his. You will find yourself laughing, crying, relating. And some of you might find yourselves changed forever.
Danny Wise (thadirtydog) Been a long time since I've seen a truly unique film. This film has a structure like no there and is such deep meaning at so many points. The idea that life has no meaning but a deep meaning at the same time is very important personally right now. I'm sure anyone who sees this film will have their heart filled by it, yet feel empty and lonely at the same time...actually exactly like life. Animated or life action means nothing if you are telling a story that is really worth seeing. This is a must see 9/10 from me and WOW the random humans mustered it up to 8.3/10 I'm impressed :) I actually have to watch it a second time right away, and will watch it with a friend one day.
