suite92 Oliver is a publicist working in NYC with a good success rate and a demanding schedule. He meets Gertie Steiney and his life is changed. The second huge change in his life comes when Gertie gets pregnant and dies giving birth to their daughter.Oliver's father Bart helps him out with daughter Gertie up to a point. Then Bart demands that Oliver start acting like Gertie's father. The third huge change in Oliver's life comes when he makes the mistake of taking his daughter to work, resulting in his catastrophic firing.Most of the film is about the period seven years after the firing, when Oliver meets Maya, and Gertie's big personality starts to show itself.Does Oliver ever get his old life back?

dulcgatita I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!! It made me cry more then once. I didn't expected to move me the way it did. Ben Affleck's acting was awesome. I could feel his pain. The little girl was my favorite, she was so endearing. I wish more fathers were like Ben Affleck's character. The story line was so sad but at the same time so LIFE like. Things happen in this world that we cannot get over and it caries on no matter how long it has been. I cant say enough good things about this movie. It's funny and fun. charming and full of family warmth. Awesome movie. You must watch it! I cant believe I went all this years without watching it.

bluesman-20 Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl has made the list of one of my all time favourite movies. Which is a shocker because While I like Smith and his work. His movies fell short of their mark. But not Jersey Girl and for that most of the credit must go to George Carlin. Carlin delivers a unforgettable performance that walks the line between Drama and comedy. He provides the back beat and the tempo for the film. Ben affleck cannot be praised enough for his role of Ollie Trinke. Ollie is a publicist the best in the business he eats sleeps and lives for his job. Then he meets the woman of his dreams. Jennifer Lopez in a thankless extended cameo. They get married and soon Gertrude Gets pregnant. Ollie is forced to change his life. It's not easy for him but he tries. Then Gertrude is rushed into emergency she gives birth to a baby girl and dies. Ollie's world collapses,and Soon he suffers a nervous breakdown which ousts him from the world he loves. He's forced to move in with his father and raise his baby. Seven years later Ollie still lives at his fathers house and Raises Gertie his daughter. Ollie is working for the city doing labour Driving the street sweeper repairing sewers and snow clearing. Ollie is obessessed with getting back to the world he left behind. But it seems life isn't thru with him yet. Ollie meets Maya a part time video store clerk Wonderfully played by Liv tyler. She catches Ollie trying to rent Porn. Maya is interested in Ollie and soon they become involved despite Ollie being very much in love with his dead wife. Lessons come for Ollie where he learns it's not so important to be Where you want to be. But it's more important to be where you are with the people who love you.Kevin Smith's work isn't for everyone. But This one movie is for everyone who has either loved and lost or is too afraid to love at all.George Carlin's greatest shining moment ever in a movie.
