spear88 Never heard of this film beforehand but seen it as a 4 movie set for £5 and thought can't really go wrong paying £1.25 per film. Finally got round to watching this the other day and i didn't quite expect it to be as bad as it was. I now fully understand why it was so cheap.Everything in the movie was pretty horrible; the acting, the camera quality, the score (sounded like i was watching a 1970s porn movie I'm baffled as to how this became a 4 movie series thing. It's the only movie which has made me question my judgement in buying a DVD despite never hearing of the movie.Just avoid at all costs!
Brandon Clark Okay, where to begin. Okay I'll start with the story, its a decent story its nothing special, a kid gets murdered my gangsters and a demon clown named Killjoy exacts revenge in the kids honor. The acting ranges from OK to bad so I guess I can say the acting was stiff. Killjoy is a somewhat likable but very annoying character, he spits out TONS of one liners, and some are funny and some are not. The effects in this movie are awful, there is a scene where I guy is getting turned to ash and you just have to see it for yourself it is that bad. So I would say skip it. The sequel to this is even worse but this series saves itself with killjoy 3 and I have heard good things about the fourth so I will just have to see it myself.
Robert Cruz ...or so the old phrase goes, but I'd say it holds true for "Killjoy". There's so much bad in this movie. The movie looks like it was shot on a budget of about tree fiddy, no doubt contributed by the Lochness Monster (there's no way that the $150,000 estimated figure is correct). The acting is awful, there's barely a plot (but we are reminded in the middle of the movie by the black version of Crazy Ralph from Friday the 13th that there is a back story...the whole plot is summed up in about 5 minutes), the sound effects were no doubt courtesy of a Yahoo search for stock sound effects, and the special effects...not the worst I've seen; and since the movie is from 2000, with a low budget to boot, I'll let that part slide.Yet, at the same time, you'll find yourself laughing at everything. Plus, Killjoy the clown is actually kind of enjoyable to watch. Lord knows he's trying, at least. This movie is obviously not McDonald's-approved, although you could watch it as some sick back story to Ronald McDonald...makes the experience more enjoyable that way ;-) Fun movie to watch with friends, or in a party. Booze, weed and crack not included...supply your own, for it might help.1/10 for the movie itself...+5 for making me laugh throughout, thus, not making the movie boring at all. 6/10 is my final score.
unemployedvirgin i really really liked this film. which was a big surprise judging by the trailer i saw and a lot of the negative comments here on IMDb. this movie has to be commended for it's revamping of the evil clown genre in a new age blaxploitation style of cinematic vignettes.the make up team for killjoy deserve a lot of credit, i haven't seen a clown that menacing since the TV adaptation of Steven King's IT! the same show of respect goes to the colour co-ordination in the scenery, backgrounds and character clothing.sure it's not a Hollywood cgi gore-fest, but it has everything the average horror fan needs: black comedy, cartoon like protagonists, a charming villain, creative story lines with just enough predictability to make the viewing experience worthwhile and bringing the psychological aspect of fear into play rather than relying on low budget techniques for scare tactics. and if you really wanna get critical, yes there were copyright free sounds used throughout the picture such as the infamous "open and closing jail door slam" or the "cartoon network like punch and kick combos" but for me the end result is still solid. i definitely felt empathy towards Michael, the lonely outcast that bares the brunt of bullies and solitude and struggles to find love in the one person who could possibly help get his life in a better situation.for the sceptics.....you like krusty the clown from the simpsons? did you like that one Halloween episode where he becomes an evil doll? have you seen the first hellraiser film by Clive barker? can average acting ability be enhanced in a teenage slasher flick during the year 2000? if you can answer yes to at least 3 out of those 4 questions, i recommend you watch this film - or at least give it a test drive for the first 20 minutes...then you can start giving a thumbs down to reviewer's comments and down rating a film to under 2 stars!!10 outa 10, only heard about it from various youtube videos, i've already downloaded the 2 sequels (which i'm now definitely interested in finding time to watch!!)
