HeroCritic Although not very sophisticated, this movie was supposed to be quite interesting. Some idiot in a forum mentioned it, otherwise i wouldn't know about it. I saw it in 2014, which means 22 years after it was made. Why would i want to see a 1992 movie in 2014? Well, i thought it was going to be some type of futuristic dystopia film. I thought i would check out what a 1992's take of such a future would be.In the beginning of the film i thought i was going to watch an interesting approach to a futuristic film. But almost immediately, the film turned into a weirdo cheap-horror type b-grade movie, with very stupid moments, incredibly ridiculous costumes and a scenario that really disappointed me.Overall a disappointment. I would not waste time on this if i was you, do something more productive, like scratching your back with a plastic hand or something.
FieCrier For most of the movie, the pretty female lead (who has some rather admirable musculature in her arms) is exiled from her apparently post-apocalyptic underground lair where most time is spent in virtual reality, to the barren Earth's surface, mostly sand and snow. Mutated human beings try to capture her, but Bruce Campbell saves her. However, they both get captured and pulled under the Earth's surface where Campbell is put to work mining for pre- apocalyptic items like Cuisanart blenders, and she has more in store for her than that. However, that's not where the movie starts or ends. It is bookended by some confusing scenes in the underground lair and in the virtual reality. It's unclear what's real and what's not, and I didn't understand the ending at all, I'm afraid. For those looking for gore, there is some and it is pretty good, but I wouldn't say there's a lot of scenes with it.
chronocross24 Everyone knows me as one of the biggest Bruce fans around and i must say that "Mindwarp" was a very very very very bad movie...even by very very very very bad movie standards. It looks like Marta Alicia does nothing but whine all movie, and Bruce doesn't exactly give a knock out performance like he did in other lesser known Bruce movies like "Maniac Cop" (check that movie out!) plus the plot makes no sense and it actually visually lokes bad...avoid this and go see other Bruce classics like the Evil Dead Trilogy and Maniac Cop..thanks!
Gorehound-1 I write reviews under the nickname of Gorehound-1, but I also write reviews under the nickname of ~PL~. My reviews, as Gorehound-1, are there to give hints to gore fans, to help them in their choices for viewing or buying a gore movie. I advise you that I am a very strong stomach, and it's almost impossible to gross me out. My ratings are a mark between 0 and 10 for the gore (its quality and amount), the violence, the sadism, and the brutality.(Spoilers warning)Gore quality 7/10: It has nice gore effects, I admit it. Even when a guy is shot with a crossbow, you see the arrow piercing the flesh and blood and organs spurt out of the wound. The gore is good, but still, it's not memorable, sometimes we don't clearly see it. Also, there's not a huge emphasis put on the gore scenes...the editing is too fast at times, so we don't clearly understand what just happened...Gore amount 6/10: Even though it has its quantity of gore scenes, they are not lenghty enough or graphic enough to really satisfy a gorehound with high needs. It has about 10 scenes of violence that show more or less briefly gore. That's it.Violence 7/10: Many people are killed, or simply hit and beaten. There is plenty of violent scenes, but again, it's more violence than gore.Sadism 2/10: Not much of it, except a brief torture scene.Brutality 6/10: People are hit with many objects, some death scenes are pretty brutal too.Gore film to rent 5/10: For the gore factor, you'll find better. But if you're looking for a stupid, low-budget, sci-fi, futuristic, quite boring movie with Bruce Campbell, well, this might be for you. Otherwise, even a renting could be deceiving.Gore film to buy 3/10: Except if you find it used in a video store for less than three bucks, this could be an okay buy, but other than that, forget this. There is not enough gore for a real gorehound...even Predator (with Schwartie) is gorier than that.MPAA says: Rated R for horror violence and gore.GH1 says: should be Rated R for strong violence and gore, brief sexual content and some language.
