Without doubt, one of my most favourite movies of all time. I love a good movie that screws with your mind (The Game, Primer, Cube, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Mulholland Drive, Identity etc.) where the movie you think you're seeing becomes something else entirely. Mr. Nobody is one of those films. Part sci-fi, part romance, part thriller, part comedy, the film ruminates on the old multiverse theory, that a single decision by an individual, creates multiple parallel universes where the alternative outcomes are selected. Of course, this idea from quantum physics, has been used before in many other sci-fi movies, but not like this.Describing the plot is a bit of a challenge, as there are so many threads to this movie, right off the bat. Mr. Nobody is a man who is conscious of the other universes where certain key decisions of his life are all played out, and he seems to jump between them. The main one, however, is set in a future utopia, where he is the oldest human & will be the last human to ever die. - Actually, that description is pretty weak.How about comparing it with other movies? Well, I guess this would be a bit like a mash-up of Cloud Atlas, the Fifth Element and The Butterfly Effect, but co-directed by Darren Aaronofsky and Michel Gondry with Terry Gilliam and Wes Anderson on hand......but even that does not do the movie justice. The movie will be polarising. It has a lot of great ideas, and is cerebral one minute, goofy the next minute, and tragic the next. - If you enjoy or appreciate any of the movies I've mentioned in this review, you should enjoy Mr. Nobody...and if you still don't think you understand what the movie is about after reading these reviews, I would highly recommend just watching it anyway!

Arguably one of the most ambitious storylines in all of cinema. Jaco Van Dormael is a director known to take fantastical weird storylines, and turn them into thought provoking film. Mr. Nobody is no different. I'm not stating that this film is perfection. With a storyline this ambitious, it's flaws are inevitable. But even with its flaws, it still shines as an intriguing si-fi flick. It's a fun film to analyze and break down because there is various ways to interpret it. It leaves you with a message of longing. It reminds us that our childhoods are our most formative years. And even the smallest of descions could have the biggest of outcomes. For those who have yet to see this life changing film, please do. You'll probably want to read a forum thread or article explaining the ending and themes. Even after seeing it multiple times, there are still new interpretations to take away from it. What I took away from it was the obvious. Every descion you make counts and effects your life to some degree. Sometimes the only viable move, is to not move at all.

Mr. Nobody had the material, and cinematography to be one of the best films in history. The story is rich with flavor, the acting is staggering, however, there were many confusing unnecessary scenes. Jaco Van Dormael did not kill his darlings in this movie making Mr Nobody go from a full 10/10 to a 9/10.
This movie is definitely something I will always think about. Beyond Beautiful!!

Well, sorry to say but this movie is not for me. Was looking for a decent mystery/ sci fi movie but instead started exploring head of a dementia suffering 117 year old patient. Couldn't bear it for more than 1 hour.
