Bob Taylor I won't go into superlatives, they've already been said better than I could do, shy of just repeating them! This movie is outstanding. If ever there were a video that makes a person want to go to the airport and fly ANYWHERE this is it. The image quality is wonderful, composition great. My only regret is that the shots of flying don't last longer. Next film, just put the cameras in the airplanes and do what you did here, but more so! The musical soundtrack is evocative...order the CD for the home, car, or aircraft CD players. Close your eyes (at home only!) and it will take you flying. Brian and the crew did a wonderful job...thanks for not giving up when you had early lack of support. I'm eager to see what flying adventures Brian and his crew will take us on next.
desertsky-2 The cinematography, the music, and the content are truly brilliant. Having spent more than 20 years in - and retiring from - the Tower pictured in the opening sequence, I can tell you that Brian captured the true essence of his subject - Van Nuys Airport. Consistently one of the busiest airports in the nation VNY is quite often overlooked but by any standards is a true asset to the industry. Brian too, becomes a asset to all GA lovers with his remarkable rendition of life on the ground and in the sky over Southern California. This is a pioneering effort in the making of High-Definition films - flawless. The colors are spectacular and the extra features on the DVD show how the original music was composed. A must see even if you're not an 'airplane fan'.
churdles I just watched the above on a local HD channel this past Monday night and must say what a beautiful documentary it is! I was captivated by the personal stories as well as the various pictures (both old and new) and awesome HD footage – so crisp and clear. I especially enjoyed how you would show an older picture of the airfield (for example), then fade to a newer picture which was correctly placed over the older picture. I have always enjoyed this effect and yours was truly amazing. It really offers an interesting perspective of how the airfield has grown over the years. Furthermore, kudos's to Mr. Wang for a terrific soundtrack.I have a personal connection to your film as well. Stacy Sheard, whom you interviewed while performing her duties as a medical helicopter pilot, has been performing her duties as a new helicopter delivery pilot here at Keystone Helicopter for over the past year. She is an interesting person and very well liked by all.In closing, keep up the great work and I look forward to future productions. If there is ever anything I can ever do to assist, please don't hesitate to call.Wishing you continued success!!
walterssa As a longtime pilot and aviation enthusiast, I was awestruck by "One Six Right" the first time I saw it. It is a magnificent tribute to general aviation. Brian Terwilliger is an outstanding filmmaker! He clearly has an enormous passion for aviation. I've never seen such beautiful aerial photography in my life and the editing of current and historic footage was perfectly done. The thing that really set off the visuals was the story of Van Nuys airport. For all general aviation pilots, we recognize the history of Van Nuys as the history of our local airports. The wonderful thing about general aviation is that this story is really the story of all small airports - the joy pilots feel about "kicking the tires and lighting the fires" and the struggles the airport endures as urban sprawl encroaches ("nobody ever built an airport in the middle of a housing development"). Thanks for truly superb movie with all the dimensions of modern general aviation. Please re-release it on BluRay as soon as possible.
