joaoantonioasodias I had a curious perspective when seeing this movie, as in a class we had to fast create a possible short story with the same parameters I really wanted to see the winning plot and to be honest; I thought our story if more polished could be the winning one. "Pride is truly my favourite sin" as a good actor said once. I was really surprised when the topic of the movie was not a fantastical tale or a futuristic scenario, but a small rope of light in a really dark age. Through the use of the simple words given as an option the director tells of choosing and how this can affect many a live, but most important it can save us of our greatest enemies: Ourselves.
Indiana-Harrison During World War 2, some boys sneak into an abandoned house. One boy finds a hidden space and he meets a Jewish girl. When the boy meets the girl, there's no racial tension between them. They are just children who happen to meet each other. They talks for a little. But their chat is disturbed by the Nazis. The boy tells the girl to get away. He protects her without hesitation. His action doesn't relate to his principle about racial issues. He protects her because he knows what comes to her if they find her and he doesn't like it. He follows his conscience. Consciences are a very human thing. They consists of a sympathy for others and reason. No other animals have these things. Time passes and an old man, who was the boy, sits next to an old lady who was the girl. He shows her the porcelain unicorn she gave him at that time. It was broken by the Nazis, but he repairs it. I thought this unicorn is a symbol of human goodness. Sometimes they are broken by some people, but they never stay broken. This film shows us that people can be good despite the environment where they live.
hubrokt11 I am impressed by this movie. It makes me surprised. First of all, there are only five lines. Although it is a short story, the lines are too few. However, I can understand the story. Why? It is because of the visuals. There are some movies which do not have lines, but they have the background music and visual. We can understand the story if they are there. I think that the line is just a decoration which helps people to understand easily. It means we can know what the characters are doing without lines. In my opinion, the short movie like this should be clear. If there are a lot of lines, people have a lot of information and are confused. They cannot enjoy enough, so screenwriters have to make movies simple, and people fun. That is a important point in making movies. The movie made me think so. However, the movies should not always be clear. The complex ones are also interesting.
yla27i Is there anything else that is so unique? This movie consists on only six words. It is too little dialogue to make a movie. However, even though a dialogue is far too much, this movie shows the details really well and I think this is true visual telling movie. This story is about friendship between a boy and a girl through building up by one unicorn. The boy protects the girl even though he is hit by a soldier and after a great deal of years, he return the unicorn to her. This is the last scene and I recognized their friendship is so beautiful and very pure. At the same time, I was touched.I want admire the brave of the boy that help the young girl because if I were him, I could not do that.
