ayoitseboni Jason Momoa's directing debut "Road to Paloma" was amazing, gritty, rough, and hard to swallow. The amount of emotions I felt during this picture was intriguing. This film was jam packed with heartwarming moments and heartbreaking moments alike. I thought it had a perfect balance of lighthearted and difficult moments. The acting was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the pace of this movie. It wasn't slow, it was careful. As for anyone complaining that the ending wasn't "satisfying," you're wrong. At the end, he got to do what he set out to do in the beginning and died at peace because he was finally able to spread his mothers' ashes after her horrifying demise. Momoa didn't create this picture to please you, he created this picture to bring to light the injustices committed against Native Americans, and his characters' struggle after taking these matters into his own hands and doing what he believed was right. In my opinion, the ending was satisfying because of the lack of satisfaction for Detective Williams (played by Timothy V. Murphy). Every actor was perfect, every emotion was expertly executed. This might be one of my all time favorite movies.
Maryjnberry Updated version of Easy Rider, with spirituality, drugs and rock n' roll! Seeing native Americans, Mexicans makes the movie and the road trip these guys are on much more realistic, and interesting, because when you are on the road you meet all types of people. Protagonists here live in the moment, often what real nomads who happen to ride motorcycle do. It's hard for most people who live a conventional way to imagine 'being' rather than doing. Loved the native spirituality in this movie, makes it a great juxtaposition of sentimentality, against the harsh background of a bikers life. That he's not just going for a long motorcycle ride... he's actually working out his grief.
leerufong cuz its a journey worth coming along for. jason at the helm as director and WOW you nailed it. this film was just what i was looking for one afternoon. may you offer us more glances into stories, characters and songs to share with us.the road is leading to Peace. will it be a happy ending? will we glimpse some Truth lit by smoke along the way? i encourage you the reader and potential participant to find out.some said the viewpoint of Robert Wolf is one-sided. Who cares? It's his story and this film delivers..thx jason, lisa and all involved with this project. i've watched it with my family of four including a 2yr old and a 4yr old, an' we'll watch it many more times i'm sure.cheers, lee
Alice Anne Albano As I sat in the movie theater watching Road to Paloma, Clint Eastwood came to mind. Just for a moment I thought he directed this film, however it is the directorial debut of Jason Momoa, who also co-wrote and starred in the film as Wolf. The performances are low-key, the visuals tell the story, not a lot of dialogue, wonderful use of music, and the movie is leisurely and laid-back. It is about family, love, redemption, brotherhood, and justice. And it is also has an "Easy Rider" vibe. The Cinematography by Brian Mendoza is to be noted. I was immersed in Wolf's journey. If you are looking for a shoot-em up action movie, this is not for you.
