ggreenidge Well let me tell you something about my experience with traveling on a long desert road to nowhere. It never really happen cause I'm so couscous that the car is going to break down or I wont have enough water for the long haul. but rest assured I'm really Not that stupid to let that happen am i. but these two clowns did just that.. even though I Seriously Love this movie it was a stretch for me the silly happening of this. but don't be despair its bloody Funny as hell. an I got to say Josh Duhamel was so so good I never laugh so much before but it was a laugh of despair because of their predicament. And what they put themselves in from the very outset. you need water on a long trip man. it's a given no matter how you look at it. this movie Rocks get it.
crisnjohnson It's difficult to explain in words how much of an impression this movie can leave on someone, especially if that someone doesn't think philosophically on a regular basis. This is an absolute must- watch for everyone. It's so raw and real, its portrayal of human emotions and the way we live in modern society and the effects that society has on us, the way we look at situations and other people... not to mention the utterly mind-blowing conclusion. I'd like to think of it as an open thought experiment, poking viewers to think of themselves in a predicament like the one the two main characters find themselves in, how they would act or react, and analyze their own frame of mind and how they look at the world around them. I can't emphasize enough. Watch this movie! It may even change your life.
stevenclark-43007 Just like Death Valley National Park where Scenic Route was filmed. I was actually in the park while Scenic Route was being filmed. I drove by the main scenes location several times and even stopped to watch the shoot for a few minutes. For people like me who love this national park, the movie is good for two reasons, the story is plausible and the locations are familiar. Not Oscar material here but still well worth watching. For anyone who has driven or explored the area between Beatty, Nevada and Furnace Creek inside the park, the movie will be entertaining due to the dialog, action and acting but also due to the scenery and backdrops that come into view. Once or twice the local cops stopped traffic for a few minutes while a scene was being shot. Fun to see the wardrobe, catering and support crew out in the middle of a lonely stretch of highway. This movie brings life to Death Valley!
tomdugan2-1 The film is basically an hour of two friends needlessly bashing each other physically and psychologically to the point where you are ready to leave the theater - which is what I did. I thought the film was terrible, but at the behest of a friend, I rented the DVD. I scrubbed through 90% of the film to the end where I was pleasantly surprised by a great plot twist that was well executed. So my rating goes from a minus something to a reluctant five for a cool ending of a first effort. To those thinking of renting the DVD though - watching is still torture unless you chop the second act. If you do watch this film the repetitive bashing starts twenty minutes in so whenever you tire of this you can save your sanity by skipping to the start of the plot twist at an hour and fifteen minutes for a reasonably entertaining half hour short.FLASH TO FILMMAKERS - No one but your parents and friends will pay $20 to see a feature film that takes an hour and fifteen minutes to engage its audience. The static script might have worked as an off-Broadway one act but as an 86 minute moving picture film this needed a lot of development - or at the very least a lot of heavy editing.FLASH TO PARENTS AND FRIENDS WHO POSTED INCREDIBLE REVIEWS - if your reviews were disingenuous, you are not only cheating IMDb readers but the people behind this film. Think about it. You are building unreasonable expectations for a $20 movie ticket or DVD sale that the material cannot support. What should have been a great "reel" and learning experience for the filmmakers is now going to be held to the unreasonably high standard of your reviews. This is not going to sit well with people who watch based on your recommendations.
