Rainey Dawn Scream Bloody Murder (aka Claw of Terror, Captive Female and Matthew). This is NOT the greatest horror movie by any means but I was expecting the film to be far worse than it really is - it's better than I was guessing it would be.Matthew killed his father with a tracker, one of his arms was mangled in the process and then he was sent to a mental institution for awhile where they tried to fix his mind and his hand by giving him a metal claw to use in place of the hand. His mother wrote him and told him that she had someone new in her life and when he got out the 3 of them could be happy living together... but Matthew didn't like that idea and when he got out of the institution he headed for home and killed his stepdad because he wanted it to be just him and his mom. His mother found the body and in an argument he was upset and killed her too. He got a ride out of town and ended up in a place where he fell for a girl but others will end up dead and the girl held hostage because Matthew decided he wanted to keep her.Don't expect a high quality film here but it's better than I expected it to be. I will say it's very bloody at times - which I'm not overly crazy about that type of film but at least there is a fairly interesting story to go with the bloody stuff.5/10
Michael O'Keefe This horror movie looks like it had a budget of maybe fifty bucks. The acting on the equivalent a high school drama class rehearsal. No screams are guaranteed, possibly a flinch or two. Matthew(Fred Holbert)is a bad, bad boy. As a youngster he kills his father by way of his own farm tractor. During the event of watching his father's disturbing death, Matthew also is victimized as his arm is mangled. Matthew is placed in a hospital for the criminally insane and is released as a teen with his hand replaced by a hook. He arrives home on the very day of his mother's new marriage. This upsets the still disturbed Matthew and he goes on a wild slashing, stabbing and chopping spree. Amateurish at best. Good enough to waste a night with. Also in the cast: Leigh Mitchell, Ron Bastone, Suzette Hamilton, Angus Scrimm and A. Maana Tanelah.
preppy-3 As a child Matthew runs over his father with a tractor and then gets his own hand mangled as a result. He's sent off to a convent (that's what it looks like) but is released years later with a hook for his mangled hand. He comes back home--and finds mother remarried. He quickly kills off his stepfather and mom and then takes off and continues murdering other people. The plot doesn't make a lot of sense, there's terrible overdubbing, lousy music, pathetic dialogue and Fred Holbert is awful as the grown up Matthew but this does have a few good moments. The visions he has of his past victims attacking him are genuinely spooky and Leigh Mitchell gives a good performance as Vera. Unfortunately I saw a crap version from the "50 Movie Chilling Classic Pac" and it was edited. It only plays 85 minutes and it's obvious some of the gore was cut. Still, even uncut, this wouldn't be much better. The gore that was left in looked incredibly fake and was hardly even disturbing. This gets a 3 for the images and Mitchell.
Greatornot Yes I truly gave this flick an 8. Well done movie for a B Flick. Fixated Oedipus Complex Matthew, imagines every woman to be his mother from as early as 7.... leaving nothing but blood for every poor soul that dares to touch a woman or a woman that dares to like being touched, if you know what I mean. From murder, to theft to hostage holding . This film features a villain that is truly a villain in the true sense of the word. Just a teen but evil beyond his years, Matthew with his hook hand delivers before Freddy,Saw and of course Jason. We have a highly , intelligent bad guy here that dresses to impress so to speak, murdering into upper class. Good acting and done mostly in PG mode. Would have liked some R action with maybe some gratuitous nudity . Still, a nice unexpected surprise .
