Reviews

sweener-50-818364 First off, do you notice that all the good reviews on this movie were from the same location? Same country that it was released? I will bet anyone a million bucks these are reviews from someone having an association with the production of this film or the film makers themselves. Moving on, I am actually one of the few that really enjoys a good "found footage" movie. I will even let some of the more criticized films squeak by with an, "that was OK" or "at least the story was decent". This "movie" was absolutely horrible. The writing/casting/directing/acting was quite possibly the worst I have ever seen. I started the movie really wanting to give it a chance, for hope that I had found a new good "found footage" film. I was sorely mistaken. You could tell the actors were trying to act "random" to portray the fact that it was supposed to be real time and live, but what came out was forced and very cheesy/ unrealistic. Cheesy to the point where you hoped that these actors/ actresses considered acting lessons after the conclusion of filming. The story had an interesting start but just completely dragged on and for nothing. You may choose to watch like I did, hoping for a new hidden gem to add to your collection, but what you will find is fools gold.
valsangkarn I'm not usually one to watch found footage movies, but "Severed Footage" has definitely changed my mind on them. The plausibility of the story is amazing; when I got home from watching it the first time, I searched all the issues that came up and not one of them was fictional. That, for me, is the key to why the film is really entertaining. The only other film of this type that I've seen is the first "Paranormal Activity" and "Severed Footage" was just as good, if not better. The beginning of the story (before they get to Newcastle Island) has a comic element which I just didn't get in "Paranormal", and the premise of the story was much more believable for me. All in all, I would most definitely recommend this film and it is probably the best Indie film I've seen in a long time.
Emily Johnston Found footage movies such as Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity have been very successful both in their ability to excite and scare people. When I watched "Severed Footage" the intensity that built coupled with the uncanny authenticity of certain events immediately gave me reason to rank it superior to previous found footage films. I enjoyed watching the college kids as they planned this project, typical students and fun to watch, I could relate as a student myself. The sheer truth behind the storyline was frightening but so captivating that I had to watch the movie again. It was very well done and enjoyed by many including myself.
tif1985 I usually do not write reviews about movies but I was so impressed with this one I had to share my thoughts. I just watched a screening of "Severed Footage" with some of my friends. We had no idea what is was going to be about other than it was a found footage and I am a big fan of the found footage movies. What I like in a found footage movie is that it should be believable. People that do not seem themselves, a fake story line or scenes that are unrealistic just ruin them for me. I found this movie much more realistic than most. The people in it seemed real, the story about the 12 severed feet washing up on shore in running shoes is not only creepy but has been all over the news. Now that got me thinking! Loved getting to know the people, made it easy to relate to them, just normal college kids. It was humorous watching the poor college nerd trying so hard to impress the hot girls in his class. Kinda like watching Napoleon Dynamite. Then as they got to the Island I was caught completely off guard. Many times we jumped out of our seats. The Axe scene was absolutely terrifying. The ending was the great too. After I got home I Googled the floating severed feet and also Kanaka Pete the Axe murderer. I found stories everywhere especially on the paranormal and true ghost story sites. Many people have had paranormal encounters with the Ghost of Kanaka Pete, and some have lived to tell about it. So many actual true events in this movie, and I like that. This is the most believable found footage movie I have seen. Lets see, no director named, no cast named, no credits, this just may be the real deal! I was a teen when The Blair Witch Project came out and that was thrilling and exciting, this is the first time I have felt that same thrill and excitement about a found footage movie since then. I would highly recommend this movie even if you are not into the found footage genre. After watching "Severed Footage" I now have a new favorite.
