richardsmith-74806 Starsky and Hutch is a great remake of an older television show. This is a frat pack movie and most of them are here. Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller play the titular character and although not over the top funny they are a good mixture of drama and goofy fun. The cameo from Will Ferrell is a highlight and Vince Vaughn is great as the bad guy. This was made at the height of the team's output. This is a great Sunday evening movie.

fullbug The original Starsky and Hutch series was a serious action/crime drama with a light sprinkling of humour and humanity. This movie (however) was the exact opposite. I'm not even sure if I'd classify it as a parody. More like a slap in the face to the shows legacy.People these days are confused into thinking that acting like a retard is good comedy. It is not. In this regard, I'm not a fan of either Wilson or Stiller, so IMO the movie was doomed for failure by casting these 2 idiots. Obviously the director and writers are also to blame.A few bright spots were that of Snoop Dogg and Fred Williamson portraying a decent Huggy Bear and Captain Doby, as well, the movie does capture a good 70's feel with its soundtrack and wardrobe. The strikingly painted Gran Torino is also a classic, and the cameo appearance of David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser at the end was a treat.Had the producers stuck more closely to the original formula it would've had the makings for a decent movie, but this was just all wrong.
gwnightscream Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Snoop Dogg, Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Juliette Lewis, Amy Smart, Carmen Electra and Fred Williamson star in this 2004 action-comedy based on the TV series. This takes place in the 70's where we cops, David Starsky (Stiller) and Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson (Wilson) who become partners. They find a murdered thug and learn he was working for drug-dealer, Reese Feldman (Vaughn). Starsky & Hutch go after Feldman who is making a big drug deal during a benefit. Rapper, Dogg plays underworld boss & police informant, Huggy Bear, Bateman (Dodgeball) plays Feldman's partner, Kevin, Lewis (Natural Born Killers) plays Feldman's mistress, Kitty, Williamson (From Dusk Till Dawn) plays police Captain, Doby and Smart (Road Trip) & Electra (Scary Movie) play cheerleaders, Holly & Staci. Will Ferrell (Elf) appears uncredited as Feldman's former associate, Big Earl, The late, Chris Penn (Reservoir Dogs) appears as obnoxious cop, Manetti and original stars, David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser also make cameos. This is a good action-comedy and Stiller & Wilson are great together as usual. I recommend this.
