After a night out of partying and left behind by her friends, Ava wakes up and sneaks back home only to find that she's already safe in bed. But that's not Ava - it's someone who looks just like her. A time-traveling fugitive has stolen Ava's body, her identity, and her life. What's more -- she's not alone. There are others, hiding in the past, secretly living among us, plotting to alter the future. Without her body, Ava is a virtual ghost, silent and invisible to the world. And, so far as she knows, she's the only one who can stop them and put the timeline back on course.

Andariel Halo This film kept appearing in Netflix sci fi section right at the top, pushing me to watch. It looks like a film with a hefty budget, or at least one that made great use of its budget to look seamless and professional. that's about where the effort ends. The acting is atrocious with every single character in virtually every single line. Some of the characters have the hammy, boisterous intonation of a Star Trek supporting character, with casual expo-dumps dropped in conversations. Others, especially the main protagonist playing Ava/Seattle, are at the level of Power Rangers or Goosebumps level acting, and sometimes worse. The way they deliver lines is like something you'd expect from a mid-90s computer RPG game, like Fallout, but with none of the cheesy charm. And while that kind of loopy, over the top acting suits quick snippets of dialogue in a game, it is painful in a feature length movie. The story presented is one which, in my opinion at least, is boring on its own. 12 Monkeys is possibly the only movie with a similar plot that pulled it off masterfully. Two kids from post-apocalyptic 2067 apparently rebels from a new government order take part in a rebel-based time travel to 2017 to do stuff. The plot description on Netflix says it's to start a new life, but in-movie it says it's to somehow change the future. They do this by basically putting their real life selves into "stasis" and taking over the body of someone in the process of dying. For the protagonist, Ava, she is somehow still conscious as some manner of ghost who can occasionally interact with the real world via minor electrical shocks and zapping. Inexplicably, the new government order is against this, and hunts down the rebels throughout time to stop them, for no coherent reason. The main government people are inexplicably evil and have a weird fetish for torturing and murdering people in a way that would be considered too goofy for the Star Wars prequels. Due to the abysmally bad acting, it's difficult to keep track of the plot, but it doesn't really matter because of how abysmally bad the acting and writing is. No cliché is too tired, too lame, or too painful for this film in terms of dialogue, writing, or plot events, and all delivered like a middle school Drama I class's first play.It is utterly unbelievable that they went ahead with actually shooting, editing, and publishing this movie as-is with this type of acting and writing. It distracts from everything in the film, it's the only thing you notice. To call it amateur is an insult to actual amateur films that actually put forth real effort in terms of camerawork or acting or writing. This has all the hallmarks of a production that just doesn't care. It just needs to churn something out to meet some deadline or fulfill some contract.
MartinHafer "Stasis" is a very low budgeted film with mostly actors with limited experience. Because of this, I tend to cut the movie some slack. Sadly, many reviewers have savaged the picture and have created the impression "Stasis" is horrible...which it isn't. It has some clever ideas and works provided you aren't expecting what you'd see in a $200,000,000 space epic! The story begins in the hellish future. Things are awful and most of the people died as a result of wars. Now a totalitarian regime is in power and a small group of radicals are trying to undo this by manipulating time. Using volunteers, they send folks back in time in order to prevent this awful future from ever taking place. Some of the acting is a bit weak, but again this is a cheaply made film and they gotta learn somewhere. My feeling is if you don't mind a few rough spots, give it a watch. It's now streaming on Netflix.
CornanTheIowan In my opinion this movie is better than it seems from the other reviews here. The SciFi (which I pronounce "Siffy") Channel has released a whole series of potboilers with a plot I describe as "last man standing". In those movies, a group of initial protagonists gets picked off one-by-one until only one person (or one good-looking young couple) remain alive at the end of the flick. And you would think that "Stasis" was going to go right down that path, but it really doesn't. Not quite. And while the overall setting is so close to at least one current streaming TV series that it's almost plagiarism, there are some unique ideas that might get your attention (unless I'm overselling this thing, of course).Personally, I like the ending "okay", but as with many "B" movies, they didn't put it over with as much punch as you might hope for (if you agree with me that some of the Star Wars movies really nail their endings, then you probably get what I mean). But again, it's clearly a step ABOVE those movies that make you say "What? It's over? Did they just stop filming or something?"
willrock-88030 Terrible acting. Terrible plot. Terrible dialogue. So much fail.
