Atish N Ramdonee I admit having read about the movie prior to watching it, and which brings me to say that the Wikipedia article of it is inaccurate. A low budget movie, but undeniably a good one; I feel that it hasn't been a story dramatic enough, while paradoxically I think that, much have been subtly underlie-d, which may either make it a movie about a guy who who couldn't take it, or about a guy, who is like many of us, or at least shares intrinsic aspects of ourselves, and who couldn't take it despite that he wanted to. A very fine actor, I was nearly convinced that I was watching something/one real, something/one that is actually happening/actually lived and died - it/he had me engrossed. Uhm. 4.8/5
id247 There's a lot going for this film. It's well directed and has a certain style. The animation sequences are quite beautiful, and the film's music soundtrack is very good. However the film's bleakness and the lack of sympathy I felt towards the main characters ruined the overall appreciation of the film. The four leads, Dominik, his parents, Beata and Andrzej, and Sylwia, are all horrible, selfish, people.Dominik is a spoilt brat, an only child, spoon fed in life he childishly throws tantrums when he doesn't get his own way.He is soon led into a world of madness by Sylwia, an immature and mentally unstable girl, who thinks the world revolves around her and her suicidal thoughts.Beata and Andrzej are too wrapped up in their work to be good and attentive parents, and when they're not cheating on each other and finally realise Dominik need help, their rudeness to the psychiatrists who offer their services is appalling. When you have a film which serves up such unappealing characters there is no emotional investment, I really couldn't care if they all lived or died.Having said that, I will watch out for director Jan Komasa's next film, he shows great promise.
lachowskii This film is tragically beautiful for many reasons.Dominik being this boy at prom just doing something on a dare. Now, I have to admit Alec took it as if it was more than that or maybe Dominik got the wrong picture. Yet, they go on the internet and talk about his so badly which makes him not wanting to go to school. Then on a virtual chat with this girl she just sort of feeds a lot of things to him on he needs no one and make the bullies fear him.One thing that's realistic and give it a great film is the acting..highly convincing. Gives the characters life. It's sort of fresh to see because of that virtual chat room. The animation involved as if he was actually seeing the girl. Also, the scene where he takes the gun to school is very gripping but he doesn't do anything to anyone. Dominik just wants friends and having a lot of mixed feelings about life (maybe sexuality) and how kids are cruel, they don't get you and they're judgmental as ever. His parents got on my nerve throughout the entire movie but after therapist visits is when they out their foot down. I also hated how everything he does if isn't up to a certain standard or how they want him to be than it's 'wrong' and it's really sad that some parents are like this. It's not the typical 'i hate my life, i cut myself, i wanna die' type of movie. In ways Dominik knows he'll get better and the ending is so sad because well... I don't wanna ruin it if you're reading this. Dominik makes you want to hug him through the TV.It's just a great powerful film, it peaks volumes and also a great soundtrack too. I've watched it too many times. It really is worth watching.
jokexom The film is very hooked. The acting seemed to me at all flawless. Displaying all the way and it really is. The world is cruel, classmates do not understand you, the parents do not care about their own child. And nothing left but to find online friends, but this search has ended tragically for the hero.Dominique - a typical representative of the majority of today's youth. Closed, is not understood by society, sometimes social phobia. Found a vent in the wilds of the internet and finally "settled" in the "Sala samobójców." Silvia - the ringleader of "Sala samobójców." The girl, seeing nothing good in life, dreams of suicide.Actors, in my opinion, played flawlessly. Just perfect. Passed all the emotions very well and is available to the viewer. The film itself is heavy. The end is not very impressed from the outset it was clear that nothing good "virtual life" is over.
