michaellaney15 I never considered myself a car person but seeing this movie changed that. For a film produced in the late 90's the film work was ahead of its time capturing captivating first person shots of Andretti speeding down the raceway. It also documents the competitive nature of not only the act of racing but also the construction of the car itself. Watching the engine endure rigorous durability tests scratched that itch for my love of mechanization. Plus Paul Newman is a narrator; need I say anymore. I highly recommend this documentary. It isn't just about the bliss of Driving race cars but Driving cars in general. An impeccable documentary that hints at the meaningfullness cars occupy in our culture.
jockeleu This is an excellent documentary, packed with racing action beautiful pictures and a great story. The IMAX Cameras give you a very wide perspective, as a DVD movie it is perfect. Your hear every speaker working almost all the time, The film is not speeded up and just gives you the natural feel of 230mph. Of course there are some sound effects added but i think they are good, they give a depth to the driving scenes...
woofthebark This is a well-made documentary on the exciting world of Indy Car racing. The photography is simply outstanding. The scene were Mario Andretti drives the old racing roadster down the New England street lined with the ancient maples, leaves blown to the side by the speed of the car, is incredible. The film does lose some of its beauty on the small screen but if you like watching cars driven to their limit you should see this film.
MrSprocket Super Speedway makes a great demo of your new DVD / bigscreen / 5.1 channel sound system. The IMAX camera puts you right in the race car, where you cruise around various tracks at high speed, reminiscent of the driving sequences in Grand Prix (if only that would appear on DVD!). I enjoy watching it again and again. The only minus, and why I didn't give it a 10, is some of the driving sequences look suspiciously like the film was speeded up. The soundtrack also requires a little suspension of disbelief - all you can hear in a real car is the engine. You won't hear swooshes as you go under bridges.
