ParAviatOrator If you are expecting typical superhero flick laden with special effects, one in which the protagonist is cocksure of himself and knows what to do, says smart one-liners and saves the day... then this isn't the flick you would enjoy... Maybe that's why this one has got such a low score on IMDb. For me, it was a perfectly paced love story, which happens to fall in superhero genre. It's a slower paced rom-com which might not be suitable for everyone's palate. The ending is sweet, and does not preach any message (good over evil etc etc) but is more about finding love, and working up the courage to admit it.While an extremely polite superhero who gets lorded over by everyone, even an old lady might not make you admire him, but the way his politeness earns him goodwill as a dividend in the end makes you reconsider your opinion. All in all, a sweet short movie which deserves much better ratings than it currently holds... and maybe, a sequel.
David Turner I had high hopes for this film and really *wanted* it to be good. But within the first 15 minutes I knew I was in trouble. The storyline is all over the place, the characters are terrible, and it's generally an awkward film to watch. The script reminded me of a high school production. Maybe it was mostly ad-libbed. Or maybe they spent all the budget on Catherine Tate and so couldn't afford a Script Editor. How bad is it? I actually think "Condorman" (1981) is a better film on a similar subject. That's how bad!"SuperBob" is not "Shaun of the Dead". It's not "Monty Python". And it's certainly not "hilarious". But at least it's only 82 minutes long.
retonho After watching the trailer I thought this was going to be the typical crap with all the cool shots in the trailer. The second statement is true. The first one isn't.I'm a regular rater and this is probably my first review. I feel the urge to write a positive review because this is the first time I've seen something different in a while. And it's also an independent production. It needs to be known. Superbob rocks. This is what Hancock wished to be. This movie has a real plot and real characters. For punches watch a DC/Marvel one. For story watch this. It's a simple one, very heartfelt and enjoyable.
mikes4222 Watching this movie, which made me sore from laughing, I was struck by a few things Monty Python. First, the "Bicycle Repairman" skit, where the hero in a world of Supermen is a meek bicycle repairman, who is always ready with his trusty tool kit to help stranded bicyclist's everywhere, within walking distance, of course. Bob's character never wavers from the always helpful, humble, and nervously bumbling super goof that makes his character more likable, and like the bicycle repairman of Monty Python lore, he does his best to fit in and lend a hand. Second, I drew a big similarity between the "Mr Neutron" sketch and a scene near the end, when every agency on the planet over-reacted to a very average guy(or a bit less than average) wanting to be left alone to pursue his vision of happiness, and not wanting to fill out any more "effing" forms. That aside, this was quite the refreshing sleeper hit that proves that humor doesn't have to be over the top to be funny. It is a bit slow in parts, but then again, so is Bob.
