b_kite Four strangers are summoned to the basement of a abandoned house by a mysterious entity known only as The Sentinel. One after another, they are forced to witness heinous deeds they have yet to commit - and which will damn them for all eternity. Four tales of various quality then unfold. The first about a man eating monster which resides in a bitchy wife's backyard swimming pool. The second a take on "A Christmas Carol" were a mean old school teacher is warned not to terrorize trick or treaters on Halloween by various monsters including the corpse of his dead wife. The third a tale of zombies who rise from the grave to take action against a cruel movie director on set of you guest it a zombie film. And the fourth about a young man who buys a long abandoned house were a psychopath reportedly murdered and raped 22 men and women. Of the four tales the first one is the only one that feels rather out of place and goofy, the rest are pretty dark entertaining stories. Shot in May 1989 over a period of 22 days but abandoned by the director Timothy O'Rawe after filming. It wasn't edited until Camp Motion Pictures picked up the distribution rights in 2010 and it finally debuted on VHS and DVD the following year. Its pretty much a low budget remake of "Tales from the Crypt" (1972) shot on a Super 8 camera, with some pretty atrocious dubbing. Director Timothy O'Rawe would go on to direct "Ghoul School" a year later. Overall a pretty enjoyable little homemade anthology.
