lemon_magic I once saw this collection of exposed film as a member of a group of bad film fans who gloried in watching skin-peelingly bad movies. We agreed that this movie (in whatever incarnation) was one of the most wooden, lifeless pieces of dreck we'd ever come across.Several years later, I came across it again on archive.org, and downloaded it to see if it was really all that bad. This was after I'd notched several more years of watching pathologically undistinguished movies from people like Jerry Warren, Ray Dennis Steckler, Larry Buchanan and Bill Rebane, and I wanted to see how well "Teenagers Battle The Thing/Curse Of Bigfoot" stood up against these new contenders in the Bad Film Showdown.I have to admit, that time and perspective have improved my opinion of this film. Oh sure, I've only upgraded it from one star to two, but my opinion of it HAS improved. This movie really is just an obvious "Amateur Night" effort. There isn't a real performance...hell, there isn't a single convincing reading of a line of dialog by anyone in the movie. The "actors" obviously had no idea what to do, and neither did the director. Or the editor, who seemed to feel that every...single...scrap...of exposed footage needed to be included in the final product, no matter how ill considered or badly shot, scripted, performed, blocked or miked. (My favorite example is where two of the "teenagers", upon learning that their policeman cohort has been attacked some distance from their "ambush" site, pick up pails which are supposedly full of gasoline and go "running" to help their friend.) And yet, it's relatively harmless. Compared to the in-your-face,narcolepsy inducing boredom of 2nd tier Bill Rebane flicks like "The Alpha Incident" or "Invasion From Inner Earth", or Norman Thomson's "The Revenge Of Doctor X", this exercise in static tedium and wooden non-acting at least has the charm of feeling naive and childish, like a high school student's first attempt at a film. You shouldn't pay a dime to watch this thing. In fact, you shouldn't watch it at all unless you are an extreme fan of bad,bad film. But at least it's better than I remember.
robbyimdb OK.......it's sometime during the middle of the movie when you finally get a good look at the "scary" monster.....the bad music plays "da-daaaaa" as the camera zooms in on the monster. And to give you an idea of what this monster looked like I have to quote my Dad... he said "What's that? A piece of wood?" That sums up this horribly bad movie. But it's an absolute MUST SEE for people who love to heckle. The incredibly bad film, bad music and unbelievably bad acting is what makes this film the worst made piece of crap ever!! And how about the fact that the monster is supposed to be over 7' tall yet when he's fighting the 5'5" sheriff he's the same size! I could go on, but you need to see this thing for yourself to truly appreciate bad movie making.
rlewicke If you are a fan of drive-in movies, bad movies, camp, then then this movie is a MUST for your collection! This used to be shown on the Saturday Creature Features quite often and it must be seen to be believed. Plan 9 from Outer Space is Citizen Kane next to this film; it has it all: wooden acting, long long stretches of the "actors" walking through the forest (accompanied by a thrilling music score, as if something interesting is actually happening), a perfectly inane bigfoot costume, hilarious dialog. This was released in 1976 with new footage attached to an apparently older movie (mid 60's?)concerning some archaeological students disturbing an ancient desert tomb. They discover a mummy that comes to life as a bigfoot sort of creature! What is simply amazing is that they brought one of the actors from the older movie back to appear in the newer footage!! To this day my family jokes about having the urge for a bottle of pop!
EyeAskance In the tradition of such celebrated anticlassics as THEY SAVED HITLER'S BRAIN and VAMPIRE MEN OF THE LOST PLANET, this mongrel concoction haphazardly conjoins a barely released amateur monster movie of the early 60s(about a student archaeological field excavation besieged by a resurrected mummy monster) with a noticeably more recently filmed wraparound involving Sasquatch lore. The older material is modestly amusing in the praxis of regional horror schlock, but the add-on seems to be both a means of padding this garbage to fit TV time slots, as well as a feeble attempt to incorporate Bigfoot into the story(a wet squib topic highly marketable at the time).A positively horrible Scotch tape and rubber-band mess, although the older part has a naive, campy charm...sadly, fate would decree its unfortunate metamorphosis as a component to this throwaway picture. 2.5/10
