The movie is about how this guy hacks this girls profile and acts like her on her accounts. But everyone in the movie always stays logged into the website. It makes no sense.

It's like a fourth horror movie that involves web chat or social chat/gathering online, ending up in murders. Nothing new.That said, in the beginning, I had some hope and the movie wasn't exactly awfully produced with awful acting working in its favor. BUT, it goes downhill the moment director starts introducing the wonders of hacking taking over everything in protagonist's life. Even the cops can't track these amazing hackers (yes, the same agencies like NSA, tapped into our computers can't track down hackers killing people).Apart from Hollywood hacking, you lose all interest in the killers who are shown in full view wearing generic masks trying to look scary while killing in some of THE most mundane manner. I've seen more horrifying deaths on Liveleak.Overall, movie didn't do anything new and failed to bring something new to the genre of "social chat turning into murder", which is already stale after like 3-4 movies.I am giving it 3 cause the protagonist isn't a bad actress and did her job most of the time, convincingly.Also, I was going to watch Allied, no idea why I decided to watch a boring "horror" movie instead. I regret everything.

OK, so here is the thing. Back in the 90's (I think the website is dead thank god), there was a website known as the Human Experimentation website. As far as I remember from hearing from it on YouTube, it mainly consisted of homeless people who would not be missed(of course to prevent people from searching for them). This website, like how it is/was known, would experiment on people's bodies in screwed up ways, but! This movie is a lot like the infamous 'red rooms' on the deep web. Though there is a relationship between the two, red rooms seem to be what human experimentation was, but more frequent/abundant. The reason this movie got to me so much was because of how real it 'can' be if you are not careful and 'do not pay attention' to what you see, do, and hear on the internet.Beware when talking to strangers, it is best they do not see your face and/or home layout whatsoever, just to be safe.*Note*Thankfully, red rooms seem to be more of a myth due to the deep web not being able to stream worth much at all, but the rumors of it do exist and we all know how jacked up the world can be. Be safe out there everyone. Though this was just only a movie, it does portray something that is very, very real.

Not only is this a relevant film for those who are intertwined with social media, but it is also a fantastic film portraying what is online, what is accessible to the average person, and the repercussions (albeit a bit extreme here). This movie not only captured what talking to strangers on a random chat site can be like, but it also gave you (without you knowing it) an inside look to the Dark Net. No, not the Deep Web, but the dark corner of the Deep Web. The part that is intentionally hidden unless you're invited or stumble across it. I suggest, after watching this movie, to read up on what the DW//DN are. You will be amazed at the similarities in the movie. From the simple link that Pyang*16 sends her (the jumbled mess of a link) to the supposed Red Room references. I loved the ending and the movie. I think I enjoyed the movie more because I understood the DW/DN references. I don't know that those who don't know what it is will enjoy this movie as much, but I sure did.
