gonzodrum I do not have to add much.Twisting scripture is always a minus: Hebrew 9:22 being a part of the OT is ridiculous as it is a book in the NT and also twisting "The Nephilim" to be a fallen angel instead of an actual giant....but what can you really expect from Hellywood.I've seen better B-movies.I wouldn't say it is worth watching even. As someone stated, the budget must have been low (for a purpose) and the script is way thin. But I guess some of these actors can not say NO to a job when it gets presented to them.over and out
zboston3 You know how some folks tell you a thing is really bad and you go see for yourself, not expecting much, and you're pleasantly surprised that it's actually good. Well that's what all the bad reviews of this flick did for me.I thot I would check it out for Cuba Gooding whose career has always been a bit erratic, and much to my pleasure I saw a well made creepy thriller/horror. I feel sorry for all the actors who really do good work in this film and who may not get credit for it on account of the less than stellar reviews. Gooding, Perlman, Winstone, and the others all do as good as they've done in other, more highly praised, work. It's a low budget film, most of the story is interiors, small rooms and corridors, but what creepy scary rooms they are. At any moment something may jump out at you. Its flaws are the ending is a little metaphysical - I'd prefer more explosives and bullets and less words, and what is almost a law of nature for these sort of flicks - the dumb people who wander off alone down a dark hall, but where would horror/thriller/mystery flicks be without them. Anyway, I hope you give this film a chance. You just might enjoy it.
Paul Magne Haakonsen Never heard about this movie prior to actually sitting down to watch it, so I had no hopes or expectations to the movie, which I suppose was good in its own way.The story told in "The Devil's Tomb" is, well, kind of boring. It is something that seems very much like something that has been used for another movie, somewhere, somehow, sometime. A group of elite soldiers are sent into some underground complex on a mission without any real details, and something sinister is brooding in the belly of the world. Uuhhh, so very, very spooky. Not! Actually the movie plot was very easy to follow and required very little brain activity at any time. There were no surprise or plot twists to throw you off along the way. Now, I said elite soldiers, well, let's take a moment and rephrase that, make it a bunch of ordinary soldiers, because there were so many questionable things they did that just made you wonder what kind of training they had actually received. But, don't get me wrong. The movie is not all bad, just the story is a bit weak and not really coming off as plausible. The setting of the movie, however, was really cool. There was a sense of brooding doom around every corner, and also a good sense of claustrophobia. And these elements worked very well for the movie. Now, I also think that they had managed to get together some pretty interesting people to play the characters in the movie. I was especially surprised when I saw Bill Moseley's name appear in the intro, and already there I was sort of looking forward to sitting through the movie. And when you finally got to see Moseley, it was all worth it. He looked so cool in this movie and played a very nice role, though it was only a small role. And I also think that Jason London was really cool in this movie, he was really living into the role and making his character stand out on the screen. And of course Henry Rollins in the role of the priest, now that was just priceless. And not forgetting to mention the lovely Stephanie Jacobsen, she was also a nice touch to the movie. Now, you might say I forgot to mention Ron Perlman, but no, I am not a particular fan of his work, and this performance wasn't anything out of his ordinary work. And as for Cuba Gooding Jr., well again, it was just an average performance here.I was thoroughly entertained throughout the movie, despite the lack of meat on the storyline, but there was just something about the movie that wanted you to make it all the way to the end. The ending, though, was sort of anti-climatic in the worst sense possible.Don't expect anything grand from this movie, and you won't be disappointed. Good enough for an evening's worth of entertainment, but not solid enough for a second watching. And as for the title of the movie, "The Devil's Tomb", wow? Without giving away too much of the story, why this title? That didn't really make any sense!
axismladen This movie is just terrible. I don't know the name of the guy that wrote the script but my advice to him, STOP WRITING!!! This is just terrible! Not one good thing about it. He allegedly received 75.000 dollar's for this script if you can even call it that way. I don't know who gave him that money but i wouldn't take the script if he was giving it to me for free. If you want to see how bad a movie can be than see this movie, otherwise... I really don't know where to start with this comment or what to write about specifically since absolutely everything about it is bad. I just don't get it how did they get a basically good cast to star in it. Okay, Perlman will act in everything just as Cuba Gooding in the last couple of years but what was going through Ray Winstones head when he said 'yes' to this part since his career has never been better than now. I also don't know what's with the director. Do you know that Woody Allen movie 'Hollywood Ending' in which he is a director that goes blind in the middle of the shooting and stuff. Well, i honestly think that a blind guy would have been a better director than this one. This is like Edward Wood and Uwe Boll together. OK, maybe i'm overreacting a bit but this guy definitely deserves his place on their list. ---------------------------------Avoid this movie under any cost! There is nothing good about it. Not even the basically good cast. Terrible acting all around. I won't even mention writing and directing again. SIMPLY TERRIBLE! One of the worst movies i've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--------------------------------- There is only one more thing bothering me, I REALLY CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHO WAS SMART ENOUGH TO ''BUDGET'' THIS MOVIE(cr.p)!!!???
