Michael Ledo Nothing like a lesbian artsy film filled with insect metaphors to bring out the curmudgeon in me. I might even include a plot spoiler or two although I am not sure the film had a plot.Cynthia (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and Evelyn (Chiara D'Anna) are lovers and entomologists in a community of female entomologists which seems to represent some sort on insect community or perhaps it is the other way around. At home Cynthia is the queen bee while Evelyn is the submissive drone. Although we eventually find out Evelyn enjoys being the drone more than Cynthia enjoys being dominant...whose the naughty girl. It is a light S&M relationship that bored me to tears. It reminded me of an old Italian film , especially the sound track.I didn't get anything out of it.Guide: No swearing or nudity. Some F/F sex.

Deni The Slayer I like watching movies without reading the synopsis first, that way I was surprised after the suspenseful first scenes of the movie. I thought I was about to watch a relationship unfold, when in reality, it was already way past its honeymoon phase.Submission and domination, but who's really in charge? Cynthia, who's the older in the relationship, feels just so afraid of loneliness she has adjusted to the high and super specific demands of his younger sub, Evelyn. Cynthia cages herself in tight corsets and thights, scripts and an exhausting way of living provided by her lover, and it doesn't come off natural to her. To make insatiable Evelyn happy, she sleeps alone at night and has to still remain watchful in case the word that haunts her comes out of the cage. "Pinastri". And on again the next day, when Evelyn finds something new (or wants to revive the old desires) and demands her lover to pull the act. Cynthia becomes frustrated trying, but still does, in fear of losing her only one.I loved the romance and aesthetic. The butterfly studies give it a poetic magic. I didn't like certain pauses in the movie that kind of made it bland, but I still believe is a highly recommended film for those interested in "unusual love" and sexuality movies.

Leofwine_draca Peter Strickland's follow-up to BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO is an equally arty mood piece, although a film with even less plot (if that's even possible). Instead, the narrative structure focuses on building up characters and relationships and a very specific atmosphere, without worrying too much about story lines or character arcs.As with BERBERIAN, it's a film I'm in two minds about. On a physical level, it's very well made indeed and often beautifully shot. I particularly loved the '70s-themed opening credits which are quite breathtaking. As you'd expect from Strickland, the attention to detail in terms of sound is also quite wonderful; this is a film that has clearly been carefully edited, which must have been a painstaking process.What I didn't enjoy so much was the foot-dragging pace, or the lack of either resolution or explanation. In short, THE DUKE OF BURGUNDY explores the relationship between a pair of lesbian lovers, where one is the dominant mistress and the other a submissive servant. Interest arises from a twist where it gradually turns out that the submissive girl is very much the one in control. I liked that aspect of it, and the two actresses are very convincing in their parts.But what's the overall result? This is a nice film to watch and enjoy purely on an artistic level. But it seems there's little to keep you coming back. This certainly isn't an exploitation piece, as any questionable material is kept off-screen and there isn't even any nudity. It's restrained, chilly, beautiful, sure, and I enjoyed the entomological background, but once I'd spent nearly two hours with this movie I was eager to go on to find something with more substance.

M MALIK duke of Burgundy 2014 is one of the worst films of 2014 its just a lame lesbian perverted fantasy filled with cheap thrills in the name of erotica nothing more.i have seen plenty of soft core porn films i can easily say they have much better hot scenes then this one.no doubt the film is cinematic it the camera work is amazing but the whole idea of this film sucks i like lesbian film but this one sucked for me cant say about others this is my opinion.the story is about a women who collects butterflies meets another female who is a servant later they are attracted to each other have sex & their relationship turns into a never ending sadly sexual soap opera.the whole film from start to finish is boring the makers wanted to present this as a art film but failed,the characters are not interesting at all specially the leads both of the actresses are beautiful but script does not do justice the dialogs are written by kids i guess.the cast got wasted here Chiara D'Anna & Sidse Babett Knudsen do their best they look sexy but thats it where is the good character conversation & dialogs the only good character of the carpenter is played by Fatma Mohammed the moment she appears on screen in the black dress she stole the show.i like depressing movies but this one was trying to hard to make a impact visuals alone just don't make a great project you have to relate to audience & give a good plot.i just could not connect with this film i have no problem that it runs to long but damn it was boring the only thing this film reminded me of was the Terrance Stamp old 1960s film called The Collector & trust me thats only because of the butterflies.and there is not a single man seen in this film not that i wanted to see some hot scenes between a man & a woman but this so called lesbian film have nothing to offer i mean where is the hot scene these women were just smelling each other.overall this film is a waste of time & money don't watch it even if its given to you for free,try some Stanley Kubrick movie any day but stay away from this.this film is a biggest fraud ever there is not a single erotic scene here the blue is the warmest color was way better then thisMy Rating for The Duke Of Burgundy is 2/10:Skipp it
