Ian So, did the main actor write a script for himself to act in or just so he could make out with some beautiful women, particularly Lyndsy Fonseca who is excellent in this?If it was a vehicle for his acting, Michael Doneger runs the gamut of emotions from A to B. Hardly a demanding part but thank god they didn't let him direct!Yeah, ok, it's not a bad movie. His talent might lie more with writing than acting, although I haven't seen him in a demanding part. It's billed as a comedy/drama/romance or a rom-com in most people's book. It's not exactly funny. It is 'light' and there are a couple of good lines. The subject is supposed to be 'edgy' but , heck, it's not really. It has Pretty Woman written all over it and even references it in the movie (almost the funniest part) so it's far from original. Hey ho...It's nowhere near a top ten of rom-coms, either in the rom or the com category, but it has a fair stab at the genre. Rom-com aficionados look elsewhere. If you're not too fussy, give it a look.
caue rego (cregox) the reason this flick gets such a low average rating is probably because the story is very weak. a dead horse beaten to death repeatedly. way too much covered by mainstream movies.meanwhile, almost everything else is flawlessly done here. okay, maybe not the best performance by all actors, but this doesn't really impact how we can enjoy watching it.good timing, chemistry, jokes, bashing pseudoscience, you're never hanging in a single moment even while you can always know what's going to happen in the "plot" (if you can call this a plot).in short: a brainless laying back experience and, perhaps above all, both a quite realistic and uplifting optimistic romance. touching indeed.
lavatch The two performances of Michael Doneger and Lyndsy Fonseca were outstanding in this unusual romantic comedy. At the beginning of the film, it was unclear how the style would evolve. Was this to be a satirical film? a farce? an exposé on prostitution and sex addiction? As it turns out, it was an effective romantic comedy as the relationship of two characters of Mitch and Natalie evolved into a pair of soul mates. There was good chemistry between the actors, as well as some creative dialogue. The characters of Mitch's family, including a hip songwriter of a father and a precocious sister, added to to the comedy. While "The Escort" may not be a great film, it was nonetheless a well-paced rom com, due primarily to two excellent performances.
ffortuny There is realism in this movie; every single thing that happens is credible. Personally, I enjoy stories that could easily be real life narrations. This is not a recount of something that happened, but it could well be the combined narration of things that are happening to real people in real life. The movie has cinematic quality; actors perform well, very well, as a matter of fact. The movie is a moving story and causes feelings to develop as you watch it. I can not think of one single character whose performance was not up to what would be expected from them. There is social logic in the story. It does let you see that ultimately, what you do in life is a result of your type of response to your personal circumstances. It is difficult for me to understand why this movie has not been given the attention and promotion it deserves. I suspect it is due to some chauvinism in those involved; the real power of the human female is an issue with males whose only means to get to such females, is by paying a fee: everybody needs money, and those who believe they can afford it, will use it to possess them for at least the contracted hour. At the same time, the males (some of them, at least) feel rage and frustration because as they pay their fee, they know there is some form of inadequacy in conforming to social desirable standards as the drive making them involve in such contracts. It is an excellent movie; intelligent, realistic and mind opening, at least.
