Here in the UK the movie came and went at the cinema in the blink of an eye. However, recommended by my brother to watch a few years later. If you enjoy Dennis Hopper films you'll love this. The cast are spot on, the story is "grown up", and the filming... well, as you'd expect from Dennis pure class. Don Johnson made this movie just after the success of Miami Vice TV series, and rates as the coolest dude ever... Virginia Madsen is absolutely stunning in her sex crazed frustrated wife of a rich businessman. But then she is beautiful even in real life (you may remember her as Cassandra in several episodes of Frasier!). Virginia is just as lovely now. It's a shame you never hear much about the movie when reading both Virginia and Don's film history, both actors gave fantastic and convincing performances... The film has a host of other great actors, give this a watch, you won't be disappointed.

PItch perfect Dennis Hopper directed film noir set somewhere in Texas-like badlands curving in the heat...from the opening John Lee Hooker/Miles Davis (!) soundtrack, every actor in this flick nails it. Don Johnson's cool stranger in a hot town, Jennifer Connolly's porcelain naive waif, Virginia Madsen's femme fatale, Bill Sadler's creepy villain and even Charlie Martin Smith's perennially baffled car salesman. The small town feel of the flick is perfectly claustrophobic for the plot's setup, and none of it feels like stereotype, a testament to Hopper's sure guidance. Hasn't dated itself 22 years later. See it. You'll get swallowed up quickly and enjoy every second.

The hot spot is complete package to me,as it contains drama, thriller, romance, seduction and everything was accomplished perfectly by Director Dennis Hopper. But i don't know why the rating of this movie is so low, certainly it deserves better rating. The plan of making fire and robbing bank by Harry Madox was good, but the ultimate game planing and game playing by Dolly Harshaw made the story certainly stronger.I think Virginia Madsen was the best performer of this movie playing very seductive and bad character. Jennifer Connelly was brilliant by expressing her innocent and good image.Don Johnson did his job very well also.Director made a good point in the end that we should certainly find our level.
