MyCrookedHalo Reasons why you should not watch this movie: Bad dubbing or sound technique. Spent the first ten minutes of the movie trying to figure out if was dubbed or sound was just off track. Underdeveloped story. Characters you will never learn to care about, but will find yourself hoping they die early on in the film, which they won't! An ending that makes you think "WTF, that's it". And it's not even the thought provoking kind of ending. Please heed the reviews and spend your time elsewhere. Also, don't be fooled by the picture on IMDb for the movie. That is not the house in the movie, and there is nothing remotely scary or creepy about this film.
westsideschl Who writes the plot summaries for movies. Some writers who do this are either being paid well or have an honesty issue. Any film put out by "Ruthless Pictures" immediately reeks of cheap. 1. So subtitles; poor inconsistent audio level control. 2. Lots of wasted time (50% of the movie?) watching people drive around; sit; stand; sit some more and really cheap mood enhancement technique of prolonged shots of trees and more trees. I will admit that without leaves these trees looked pretty dead. 3. Acting and dialogue was the usual cheap memorize a short line say it for the camera; edit; shoot the next short memorized line; on and on and on. 4. The old standby assistant to the hand held shaky camera was having an actor carry around a Goodwill/pawn shop castoff cassette tape recorder. Why? Who knows. Well, he like to record sounds which ended up being more wasted film time and went nowhere.
Jason Ellison After reading all of the excessively negative reviews I was inclined to watch the movie as there seemed to be more of an underlying hate campaign than an actual dissemination of positive information. With leads such as 'brainless', you have to wonder if most of these posts come from competitors? Anyways, I enjoyed the movie and thought there were several positive aspects, most notably the cinematography. Setting the stage for a thoroughly creepy movie was well done through the footage. I was also impressed by the depth of characters and the sound. I am by no means an expert movie critic, but I do know how to enjoy a good movie. I've seen much worse than this on the big screen. To be perfectly realistic it wasn't my favorite all time movie, but I do not believe that any of the previous reviews are doing any justice to the film, which is the nature of the internet forum. Do yourself a favor and judge for yourself as we all know that reviews can be excessively misleading.
dan bell "The Invoking"-Something, a spirit maybe, is being called forth from some beyond. Is the whole title based on invoking her memories? If so, then the villain/hero should have given her more information. There is no foreshadowing at all. She appears completely normal. Does the villain plan for her to see the ghosts? If so, he has great talent that is never revealed in his other interactions. Realism? Where? No one would allow this creep to hang around and no one would like Mark. Ah, they are only symbols of her emerging memories--then this is very poorly done. It was clear from the beginning that they would all die, but how? By strained idiocy. The title is misleading and worst of all, if that is actually the cover of the DVD, then it is false advertising at best. No house even vaguely resembles the house on the cover. What a piece of crap this is. I will say that with a proper script, these people may have been better, but the villain is clearly a creep, a poorly done creep, and his goal is simply non-predictable and, therefore, fails to provide a satisfying conclusion.
