jimkennyeverett-691-760833 With a relatively low budget and a few recognisable names this was going to be a tough sell, but while watching this I got more and more into it. The space / air dog fights were impressive, the acting and direction were very good and the make up effects were better than I would have hoped for. This was an original and enjoyable sci-fi movie that I hope gets a Volume Two.

TxMike I watched this at home on DVD from my public library, my wife skipped.I was a bit concerned by the somewhat low IMDb rating for this movie but had hopes based on the brief description. I have always been a Sci-Fi fan, especially for stories set in the future and involving space travel. After watching it the rating seems about right, maybe even a bit high.The story starts good showing an 11-yr-old girl in a space suit in a large mine cavern. She is the child, she is on Osiris, she will need to be rescued. The story ends with her being rescued but the vast middle, even though it is barely over 90 minutes, seems long because it is mostly uninteresting. We see a futuristic bus traveling through wasteland. We see fights in a prison. We see rough-looking people getting high in a bar and threatening others. So when the last scenes came my mind had pretty much turned itself off to the story. I watched the DVD extras, I was impressed by the team that is responsible for coming up with the story and filming it in Australia, their intentions were admirable but they just were not able to put together something that is really good and entertaining. Just mediocre.

Carlos André I was looking for some indie-unknown-movie that came out recently to watch, and I stumbled on this movie, I saw the trailer, and it's seemed pretty decent, and man! What a great surprise!The movie is obviously a low-bugdet production, so I went to it with low expectations, but the movie itself almost doesn't look like a low-budget film! In fact, I want to know how much they spend on this, because it looks like a 10-20 millions dollars film at least.Well, let's talk about the movie now. First the issues that I had with it. I think that the storytelling has problems sometimes, with some time jump's and stuff's like that, or with a couple of plot devices, that may sound forced, but this isn't all the time, it's here and there.I like the way that the director handle with some bugdet problems, like when the guy is falling of the sky, the camera shakes, so at the same time you give the scene more "fear felling", but also cover the problem with the CGI, that you probably have when you're doing a scene when some is falling of the sky. Buuut, sometimes I think that the way that the movie is shoot doesn't work, like a lot of blurry scenes, some others with the camera inclined, and stuff like that, that aren't a bugdet problem, is just a direction issue.There is a scene, not a scene actually, there is a moment when we have a sudden cut, from a scene to another, and suddenly we are in the middle of some other thing. I get that this may happened because of the bugdet problem, you just jump the scene that would be more expensive (visually speaking) and go straight to the point, ok, that is not the problem here, the problem, for me, was the way that was made, just seems odd when happens, and take you out of the movie for a second, again, some direction and editing problems that not necessarily has to do with the bugdet, but with lack of experience (of the filmmakers).So, that being said, man, this movie really impressed me! The creatures look SO REAL! (I think that for the majority of the movie, they are not CGI, and this is awsome). A lot of times, when you saw some indie movies like that you don't buy that you're watching something that supposed to be a world level threat, just seems like a dozens of guy dressed like idiots in a couple of environments, but not here! You really buy this world, those creatures, the cars and all the other things.The scenarios and makeup are gorgeous! Beautiful! The story is intriguing, told in a diferent way (by chapters) aren't a huge plot hole or something like that, the movie tells almost everything that you need to know about those characters, the ending is incredible refreshing. Oh, the acting is also pretty decent! There aren't any Oscar worth it performance but they are good. The one that impressed me the most was the little kid, she is great!I research about it, and I don't find any news about a sequel for that (and the fact that the movie is call "volume one" says that they may were thinking about that when they made the movie), this is really a sad thing, I hope that the sequel (or the sequels) came out, and loved the story, I bought the world, and I want to know more about it! The movie doesn't came out in my country, I don't know if this will happen some time, but, if it does, I will definitely check out! You will have my money for sure!Well, I love the movie, mainly because what he does with so little. Congratulations for all the filmmakers that are part of the process, you made a movie that is much better than a lot of blockbusters down here! If I was rating a big bugdet hollywood blockbuster the score would probably be something like 6 or 6,5, but I have to give some points more for the circunstances here. Definitely check it out if you have a chance!7,5/10
