Maziun There is one action scene in this movie that almost makes it worth watching. There's a car chase that eventually ends up with cars jumping from roof to roof. It's quite fun action sequence and the best thing about this movie. Maybe it was an inspiration for the Tumbler chase in "Batman begins" ? Still , Christopher Nolan did it better. There are two big problems with this movie. One is the terribly flat direction . There is no excitement or suspense here (the car chase is an exception). The second one is the weak script. The storyline is not very believable. Some dumb moments were mentioned by reviewer pgspat. Seriously the fate of villain in this movie makes no sense .There are some nice concepts here like the ethics of having a nuclear missiles for self defense or the tragic fate of soldiers , but they aren't explored. Too bad. The movie tries to be a political thriller , but fails miserably. What is Roy Scheider ("Jaws") doing here ? I guess he REALLY needed money… He and Montel Williams are OK in this movie . The whole movie in terms of acting quality is better than typical B class movie. Sadly the movie doesn't have an interesting villain. The film has a slightly cheap look about it which is strange considering the quite high budget (10 mln).Sadly a wasted opportunity for fun movie , because of awful direction and bad script. I give "Peacekeeper" 1/10.
Frank Markland Dolph Lundgren stars as Major Frank Cross, a special forces soldier who is the very best in the army, and him and Lt. Northrop (Montel Williams !!!) are the only soldiers who can thwart "Cyclops" (Michael Sarrazin) from nuking Washington D.C, his demands by the way are forcing the president to commit suicide on live TV, suffice to say the peace is kept with an exchange of gunfire. The Peacekeeper is a modest take on Die Hard, with some suspenseful sequences, good action and a thrilling car-chase on roof tops. The Peacekeeper on all fronts is one of Dolph Lundgren's better films and features one of his best casts. Both Roy Scheider and Michael Sarrazin are always welcome presences to such an action film and Lundgren is in fine form. The main flaws is that use of too many scenes of bomb disarming which gets tiresome, also the movie has some plot holes and the film's beginning doesn't fit with the rest of the movie but as it goes the Die Hard route the film works and even has a great climax. Montel Williams is also none too convincing but once again the movie is a solid B.movie take on Die Hard.* *1/2 Out of 4-(Pretty Good)
hengir One does have guilty pleasures in life and one of mine is watching Dolph Lundgren films (actually and Stephen Seagal films but I'm having counselling on that one). I'm not sure why I like Dolph. He can sort of act and he does action scenes OK. Most of his films are low budget. Yet I can't resist them. 'The Peacekeeper' is about a missile base being hijacked and it is up to Dolph to save the day which of course he does, spouting one liners and shooting and punching. Not subtle, there's just something about the man. Left field charisma, or something. There are two good actors in the film, Roy Scheider and Michael Sarrazin who almost seem in a different movie. Quality shines through. Their conversations by radio are the best bits in the film. Sarrazin as a one eyed ex-soldier is scary but also tragic. Not a great film but it fills the time. Dolph has made better films though (and worse).
