TheBigSick The martial artist Tony Jaa shows his ferocious and fierce fighting style in this movie. He beats a lot of people by simply fracturing them. The incredible action sequences are just ingeniously choreographed, which is among the greatest action scenes I've ever seen. Tony becomes an international action star after this film.
Paul Magne Haakonsen First of all I wonder why the English title for this movie ended up as "Warrior King" on the DVD, when the movie is titled "Tom Yum goong" or "The Protector". But irregardless, the movie is entertaining. Do take into account that is it a very milked recipe; one man against countless scores of bad guys.Yeah, there are some similarities between "Ong Bak" and "The Protector", which were a bit weak plot-wise and in originality. The story is about Kham, a peaceful guy tending to elephants, who has to go to Sydney in order to get his two beloved elephants as they have been stolen, but the road is full of obstacles and the opposition is bountiful. As for the action, well if you are familiar with Tony Jaa then you know what you will get, and he doesn't fail to deliver. One good thing is that the audience doesn't have to watch different angles of the same scene over and over again. But aside from Tony Jaa, then there are also other great martial arts practitioners in "The Protector", including Johnny Tri Nguyen for example. The reason why I am rating "The Protector" a mere six out of ten stars is because it is lacking originality in its story. Everything else in the movie was great though.
julesdil After the bad but decent ong bak this film with supposed excellent Acton scenes disappointed me. tony jaa hurts a lot of crime members when they steal his elephants. This plot is unique and the fights try to be good but they turned out to be not the worst these films are nothing special bur warrior king is the worst tony jaa film the Acton scenes especially the climax was far fetched and the setting is western so thees no Thai culture nor music. The characters are rubbish the comedy in this is stupidly boring a mess. this film is not appalling but bad i cant Even stand ti watch it even the stunts Arno enough Ti save it
GodzillaVSJaws in the 80s we action film fans had a lot going for us. Because the action stars back then actually had real fighting experience. Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal, and of course jackie chan , sammo hung, and yuen biao. The problem is, now all of these people are old no longer making any movies. So, what are we to do? Well luckily some Thailand action buffs thought the same thing, and thus Tony Jaa was born. You really have to be a true action film fan to appreciate the action stardom that Tony Jaa has. He is "the next great one", and his films deserve to be honored by the likes of those good old action classics. could talk all day but sadly i have a life and must go back to-oh who am i kidding, IMDb still has not posted My review of the worst movie of 2008; The Dark Knight.
