Roedy Green The movie is made of 10 sketches, each sketch very loosely inspired by one of the ten commandments. The movie has almost nothing to do with god or religion. The sketches are crude, with lots of references to penises, penis size, poo and sex. All the sketches are crazy and over the top. For example, one is about a man who jumps from a plane, sticks in the dirt, and has to stay there the rest of his life. Another is about neighbours who keep buying CAT scan machines just to compete with each other. In another, a woman falls in love with a ventriloquist dummy and kidnaps it. There is a romantic attachment between a man and his rapist in prison. A man marries Diane Wiest after dumping his giggly, empty-headed, girl friend who kept calling him "Daddy". There is a little bit of singing and dancing which is quite clever and well executed. The humour depends on the actors maintaining a straight face no matter how silly the dialogue. There are a number of handsome young male actors, sometimes nude.
smharris15 My intentions are only of concern and correction for the author and creator as well as everyone involved with the movie. I am sad to say that this movie encourages sin rather than The 10 commandments. The Use of profanity and sexual content instead breaks the Law of God which is Love and God is Love, read in 1 John. There is much scripture in the bible including these commandments that back this up. Like 2 Timothy 2:16 "But avoid irrelevant babble, for it will lead people into more unrighteousness". Or Ephasians 5:4, "Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk Nor crude joking which is out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving."I say this not to condemn you but to stand up for The Word who is God and to state the truth. This misrepresentation of God -The Word and The Law, is wrong and hurtful to God. It hurts not only God but yourselves and others including children whom God Loves. You are being hypocrites for this movie. Please know I am say this only out of kindness and correction. I pray that you may accept and recognize your sin. I pray that God blesses you with a repentive heart and leads you to confession. I pray that you see this as God's grace who is Christ Jesus. Who's will is to give a chance to be forgiven and help you repent. I pray that by His grace you are saved and He may show you a different way to represent Him with creativity and his humor, which he has done for me. Know that this is not my opinion but The truth, which I have learned and now know because of Jesus Christ our God. I also pray that Jesus rebukes this movie and crushes it. Crushes this representation of sin, the enemy. May God Bless You all In Jesus's name, Amen.
Enchorde Recap: Ten loosely connected, absurd stories based on the ten commandments. Presented by a guy who is in the middle of a separation with his wife.Comments: Utterly pointless. The episodes are absurd and can best be described as silly. Incoherent and mostly plain stupid. But then there is a glimmer of hope when a joke or some completely absurdity actually is a little funny. And that is one of the few strong points it has. It doesn't play by any rules so it is quite unpredictable. But often the unpredictable is just absurd instead of crazy and fun, and even if the intention is good it mostly fails. With this kind of weak story it is very surprising how they managed to get such an impressive cast. Most have only forgettable small roles, almost cameos, and can't do very much to save the movie. But it is kind of a star-spotting.Well, apart from that this was a complete waste of time. Far from the worst I have ever seen, but if I could go back I would see something else. Or nothing at all… 3/10
Superunknovvn Watching old Monty Python movies or "Kentucky Fried Movie" might lead to the assumption that silliness always equals good comedy which the right people will "get" while the others won't. Well, that assumption is wrong. Behind all surreal humor has to be some thought, some truth to make it funny. Monty Python and the minds behind KFM got that, the makers of "The Ten" didn't. There's no thought at all in this movie, just random, unfunny emptiness. What's fascinating is that producers could actually talk actors with a relatively good reputation into this. Paul Rudd, Adam Brody, Winona Ryder, Liev Schreiber, Oliver Platt, Janeane Garofalo and Gretchen Mol may not exactly be A-list actors in this day and age, but they sure are too good for this crap. I have no idea what Famke Janssen is doing acting in "The Ten", and Jessica Alba appearing here means that she was in TWO of this year's worst comedies (the second one being "The Love Guru"). Seriously, "The Ten" is so bad you just want to shout to God to make it stop. It's painfully unfunny and besides it doesn't have anything to do with the Ten Commandments, which somebody probably thought was funny in itself. It's not. Dammit, this is one annoying movie.
