Being someone that enjoys the work of Stiller, Vaughn and Hill, this was something I thought would be pretty enjoyable. Instead, I found that there weren't many laughs to be found, though I enjoyed Richard Ayoade. I didn't know who he was at the time, but have since come to enjoy his work immensely! The main problem with this film, simply, is that it isn't funny. It confuses dumb, violent and sexual situations with humor. It was written originally as a Ghostbusters-esque PG-13 film, which probably would have been better, but was then rewritten by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who's work I'm not particularly fond of. Richard Ayoade was the best part of this for me, but even so, the crude humor just doesn't work in the film's case. Almost all of the jokes fall flat, or feel awkward and generally it just wasn't an enjoyable experience for me. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's close.

This is basically a silly movie but it is so silly and clichéd that its quite entertaining. With an all star cast like Stiller, Vaughn, Hill and Ayoade you really cant go wrong.Although I did think Richard Ayoade was a little shy and out of touch with the other stars in the movie, and he only really became more confident and true to himself near the end of the film.It was quite a good original story and well paced throughout. For the star power of the cast its an easy and entertaining movie to watch - And it is funny. Hey Id rather watch this movie than do nothing or sit on facebook all night long !Definitely a lot of fun - and don't listen to all the bad reviews.Do you want sit on facebook all night long or watch a fun movie ?!!

The Watch is a strange one!At first, it seems to be striving hard for laughs. Its slow, and almost loses you in the first ten minutes which isn't good. But then you start to catch on as to how this should be viewed, and there is quite an endless amount of actual laugh-out-loud moments that pulls you back in.Even British comedian Richard Ayoade, of whom I am a huge fan, seems slightly out of place given the foul mouthed script from comedy drug king Seth Rogen, but still gives plenty of laughs and surprises throughout. That said, it comes across quite serious at times which can trick you after such laughs. Not what I was expecting at all, but still very enjoyable!Give it a watch...

The Watch is a science fiction comedy. Ben Stiller is an active member of his local Ohio small town community and a senior manager of the Costco store. When the store's security guard is killed and the police show little interest in investigating the death he forms the neighbourhood watch. However, he only manages to recruit Vince Vaughn, a construction worker, Jonah Hill, who dreams of being a police officer and Richard Ayoade who is new in town. The watch use the group as an excuse to drink and have fun much to Stiller's annoyance. While driving on patrol, they discover a strange metallic orb that acts as a destructive weapon and think it might be of alien origin. They uncover an alien plot threatening the world. The film probably aimed to be the new Ghostbusters but is patchy and falls short. Although there is good repartee between the cast there is an uneasy mixture of gross humour and sci-fi. What should had been a clever action comedy aims for the low brow too often and the humour seems too lazy. Its also saddled with a lot of Costco product placement.
