Alex (Josh Duhamel), his sister Bea (Olivia Wilde) and her friend Amy (Beau Garrett) are traveling in Brazil. Their bus goes off the road stranding everybody. They and Englishmen Finn (Desmond Askew) and Liam (Max Brown), and Australian Pru (Melissa George) who speaks fluent Portuguese decide to go to the beach and find two more tourists at the bar. They are drugged and robbed. The two other tourists are kidnapped and killed during an attempted escape. The six new friends get help from Kiko who takes them to an isolated cabin. They are taken prisoner by Dr. Zamora who intends to harvest the rich gringos' organs for the poor of Rio de Janeiro.The first half is pretty good. I would have simplified it by making all characters friends. It would make them more emotionally connected to each other. It would also make the final three less obvious. The first half has the tension of traveling in a foreign land. The chaos in the village is pretty good. The organ harvesting is so idiotic. The three girls are more likely to be sex trafficked and everybody is worth more for ransom anyways. It's a silly made up fear that makes little sense. The final chase in the water is too chaotic and hard to decipher. This is no great horror but it's got some B-movie goodness.

I was clenching my teeth and turning away from the screen in the final scene because the imminent drowning syndrome I was feeling for the characters was all too real.The Director had me on the edge of my seat ! Brilliant movie that I highly recommend unless you get squeamish because a lot of the scenes are intense.There are several comedic moments in this film too.Great Cast...Josh Duhamel plays a different character than his normal roles and he is believable.You will have second thoughts about wanting to go to Brazil on a spring break.The scenery is incredible.The film's first scene is an extremely intense event so be prepared.

I thought this was a very interesting movie.I loved the way the movie was set out and how Kiko was luring the tourists into his uncles death trap but then decides they are good people and tries to get them to leave before his uncle arrives.There wasn't too much gore but just enough for a movie like this. I also liked the ending as it was a happy one for those who survived the ordeal as they were on their way back home - it's good to know that they all didn't die and some came back alive.It reminded me of 'Human Centipede' as the tourists were trying to get away from a mad surgeon just like the 2 girls in the Human Centipede.After reading the reviews on IMDb I thought it would be a really bad movie but it wasn't and I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Alex and his sister Bea, and her friend Amy meet other travellers and become friends after an accident with their bus. They follow a track through the woods and find a hidden paradise. They decide to stay in the place drinking with the locals and they meet Brazilian teenager Kiko. They are drugged and when they wake up, they are practically naked, with all their belongings, clothes, money, jewels, passports, backpacks stolen. They walk to a small village trying to find a police station, they get into trouble with the dwellers and they are helped by their acquaintance Kiko, who leads them to his uncle's isolated well-equipped cabin in the woods to wait for the next bus two days later. At night, Kiko's "uncle" arrives with his friends and the group discloses the sinister intentions of the newcomers.....Released at the same time as Hostel, and during the reign of 'Saw', this is one of those movies that got ignored by the public, due to bad press and the act that most people thought it would be another torture porn movie.There are violent scenes, but its so much more than a torture porn movie. For a start, the characters really are believable, and you do care for one or two of them, and also a few grate on you.Desmond Askew is particular irritating, especially if you are from his side of the world. He is a typical cockney wide boy, and it irks me to think that film makers as still typecasting us Brits as this awful parody.It loss a few points for this, but otherwise, it's a solid movie, with really beautiful locations, and a swimming scene hat is pure Oceana to the eyes.Ignore the fax that it's classed as torture porn and enjoy it for what it is, a film about the dangers of travelling and straying off the path.
