Upstream ColorEven though the concept or the attempt is admirable and plausible, the far fetched idea is so upscale and yet predicable that the rest of the suffering becomes redundant and results into the same repetitive slog. Upstream Color is not easy to write let along project it on screen but that certainly does not imply that its a good ride to have. Shane Carruth; the writer-director is barely focusing on the screenplay which leads to an exhausting experience for the viewers. Amy Seimetz and Shane Carruth definitely works hard but fails to impress anyone and lacks a good supporting cast too. Upstream Color has a great thought provoking concept but fails to execute it on screen due to lack of a gripping screenplay and better performances.

I have no idea how Shane Carruth did it, but this was one of the most interesting films I've seen in quite some time. I actually had to put it on pause once or twice just to breathe, and for that reason I am grateful that I could watch it at home rather than a theater. The story can be a bit overwhelming at times, but my takeaway feeling is one of awe and amazement. Would I watch it again? ummmm. Most likely not. Am I glad that I DID watch it? Definitely. An amazing piece of work that redefines dimensions, parallels and just how hard it can be to come together.

This ended up being a beautiful film, but it is clear that in the second half the film got a little bit off course. I can definitely see how people could not understand it. It doesn't mean that they are not smart enough it means they weren't paying attention well enough to be able to think it through and piece it together, but that was a problem with this film. Piecing it together. This is the first film where I actually had to think very hard about what I was watching and then piece it together which I will admit is a bit frustrating. It is good for a film to leave you thinking, but not to where you have to really think and piece together to understand it.

I watched this movie in a paid streaming service, hence I had the chance to watch it again but I didn't. I felt so awful after watching it, for not being able to understand the purpose of this movie or what it means. I spent sometime reading shared thoughts of people here and there about what the movie could mean to them and I found that it is totally hard to get a reasonable single conclusive meaning for this piece.I originally gave the movie 1 out of 10 as I couldn't enjoy it and it didn't reach me for obvious reason, I was in hurry. Even though I connected the dots (I understood some how what it is on the outside!!) after watching the first quarter of this movie but it kept stretching for me and that made me lose the point of it.It is a very slow presentation of science fictional concept, the rest is merely a philosophical and artistic presentations. Philosophical and artistic presentations that can make people who watch this movie get confused about it like I was. The movie does not have parts repeated but chapters presented, it is a whole intact story of when the 'concept' suggested happen, what impact 'we' have on us.I give this movie 3 out of 10 for its ability to bring in a unique views on science fiction movie genre.
