hellholehorror This is supernatural and the first two weren't. This shift is really strange but whatever I like supernatural and teen slashers. Barely had any relation to the others, could have been called anything else but then I probably wouldn't have watched it. Some creepy horror moments save it from damnation.
GL84 Reappearing at school after a prank, a teen begins to suspect that the exceptionally strange kills and incidents surrounding her classmates are tied into a local legend similar to her encounter and finds the ghost of the woman is responsible forcing her to stop it.This here wasn't all that bad of a sequel. One thing it has going for it is that this one really has a lot of fun playing with its supernatural overtones which allows for some great scenes in here. A lot of this is due to the supernatural haunting-based attacks that occur in here which are quite chilling when based on the method of kills utilized to get the point across. The main scene involved with this is the attack in the bedroom, where the pajama-clad victim pops a zit, giving birth to a multitude of supernatural spiders from the wound and crawling over the bloodied body in a disturbing visual as she cuts away at herself in a particularly brutal fashion scores wonderfully, the motel assault is really chilling realizing that someone's in there and. Likewise, the few small indicators of the ghosts' background are quite fun with the flashes of her buried in the school as well as her dream of it being locked in the chest and crawling out for it being just as creepy and chilling as the other main attacks. This is mainly due to the ghost itself which is quite chilling, appearing with some nice facial distortions, creepy eyes and the wounds across the face making it pretty imposing while the flash lighting and quick moments leave it with a fine overall villain. As well, the curse that comes into play is quite nice with the ongoing mystery about her rampage and forcing the fun of the cemetery finale all makes for some good times to help hold off the few flaws with it. The most obvious one is that the really big, brutal deaths aren't based on urban legends and seem just thrown in for no real reason. The film's gimmick is that the kills are based around urban legends, yet neither being repeatedly stabbed in the chest with a broken beer bottle or urinating on an electrified fence and being shocked are real urban legends which doesn't have anything to do with anything making the whole purpose of the exercise quite fruitless. Another big flaw is that the film has a really convoluted opening. There's no reason for there to be as many different angles and ideas thrown in, making it overwritten and convoluted. There's way too much going on to really get a handle of it all, and it makes the beginning really hard to get into. The last really big flaw is the jerk-cutting done in the attack scenes. This happens quite often, where it flashes in a series of scenes so fast that it's impossible to tell what's going on for the intention of getting some creepy images in, but they just ruin it by going too fast. This happens during most of the scenes, and becomes distracting. A minor flaw is the thoroughly underwhelming hot-tub scene, but it isn't as bad as the other flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, Brief Nudity and drug use.
Wuchak Released in 2005, "Urban Legends: Bloody Mary" chronicles a series of horrific deaths at a Salt Lake City high school and the sister & brother who try to figure out what's really happening (Kate Mara and Robert Vito). Tina Lifford plays a pot-smoking older woman who assists the kids while Lillith Fields plays the title character. Ed Marinaro is on hand as the well-meaning stepfather running for mayor. The first two films in the 3-part series – 1998's "Urban Legend" and 2000's "Urban Legends: Final Cut" — were conventional slasher movies, but this third installment shakes things up by adding a supernatural angle, borrowing elements of "Nightmare on Elm Street" (e.g. the high school boiler room). While all three are stand-alone movies they're connected by their emphasis on urban legends and the college campus or high school environment, not to mention an older black woman who teams up with the students. The first two were released to theaters whereas this one went direct-to-video, but that doesn't mean it's inferior; it's pretty much on par with the first two movies, albeit not as slick, and in some ways arguably better. That may be blasphemy to fans of the first movie, but – come on – it's not like "Urban Legend" was some masterpiece of horror. No matter how you slice it, the first movie was a hackneyed, cartoony, contrived, over-the-top and unbelievable slasher flick; the revelation of the killer was particularly roll-your-eyes, not to mention the movie wasn't scary. It was, however, slickly made and entertaining with a great cast. The sequel was similar and highlighted by the film school angle plus Jennifer Morrison as the protagonist. This third installment, albeit less polished, goes for something a little different, is less over-the-top and succeeds with the horrific manner the eponymous character dies and the ensuing vengeful spirit.Speaking of Mary's horrible death, there are three other notable death sequences, which involve a tanning booth, spiders and an electric fence. The deaths are just more memorable than the first two flicks. In addition, the movie features a few quality females, including curvy Audra Lea Keener and cutie Olesya Rulin, not to mention Kate Mara makes for a solid heroine. Lastly, this one switches the filming locations from Toronto area campuses to a high school and surrounding neighborhoods in Salt Lake City. "Urban Legends: Bloody Mary" may not be great, but it's a decent horror flick with links to the previous two movies (e.g. Foxy Brown and the various urban legends) and delivers the requisite goods despite a flawed climax. The film runs 93 minutes and was shot in Salt Lake City, Utah.GRADE: B or B- (6.5/10 Stars)
YungRapunxel212 My favorite urban legend ever is in this movie. It is at the last paragraph of the review, if you are too lazy to watch it yourself. I wish this movie had more Bloody Mary stuff. No one even did the mirror thing. It should have just been called "Mary". The movie shows a teen in a bra and underwear, in which she dies in. Nothing really more sexual. The face of Mary can be disturbing. Her face pops up on a TV, that could be scary. Violence, gore, and milder profanity. Here is the urban legend. It was a little different in the movie, but same concept : A girl named Jenny was home alone with her dog. Her parents had to go to town for the night, and they trusted her to be home alone. There was some news of a serial killer on the loose, but Jenny locked the windows and doors. Every night before bed, Jenny let her dog lick her hand. So she put her hand down off the bed so her dog could like it. then she heard footsteps. She checked the whole house, she found nothing. She got back in bed and let her dog lick her hand. She heard more footsteps. Again, when she looked, she found nothing. She got back in bed and let her dog lick her hand. She fell asleep and awoke at four in the morning to go to the bathroom. There, she saw her dog rotted and hanging from the ceiling. In her dogs blood, it said "People Have Tongues Too".
