Semira Ariana I was actually very pleasantly surprised at the plot of this movie. I thought it would be one of those predictable, over the top love stories but it really wasn't. It was very SWEET and caring and very much how young love seems, cautious and with mistakes made in each persons life. This is hard to explain without ruining great moments in the film- but it is well worth the watch. Of course one has to mention the INCREDIBLE acting of Tom Sturridge, totally blew me away. Rachel Bilson was great also as usual. There are some twists in the film that one may or may not see coming but it was tied together very well in my opinion. The dialogue was fresh and just... airy and light. There was no unnecessary cheese added to proclamations of love. It was all honest and very soul baring. Beautiful film.. Definitely recommending it to all my friends. -saying this as a film major also.
Pro Jury *May contain spoilers.* The atrocious & preposterous non-acting in WAITING FOR FOREVER elevates TOMMY BOY into epic greatness in comparison.Simply watch any few seconds of the long in-car road part at the start of this movie. Notice how the actors never have even a slit-second of awareness of the changing landscape outside of their car. Worse, their vision is not focused to even the distance of any car window. Total concentration is unrealistically deep within their highway zipping car -- all of the time.At first I thought this was a weird movie about blind people inside a moving car, as every actor is unnaturally looking into empty space about 8 inches over their foreheads or 8 inches below their chins. But eventually at some point the actors do look at each other. Whatever, their 100% lack of awareness at the changing landscapes, road signs, and other cars along the highway was completely unnatural. In comparison, the actors in TOMMY BOY spend a lot of time inside moving cars and they appeared to be much more normal looking at least sometimes into the distance. How profoundly bad are the actors in WAITING FOR FOREVER? Imagine any random normal people talking inside a car, but unable to look outside because the car glass has all been replaced by flat mirrors, so all they can see is each other's reflections. Even with this vision block, normal people would look into the mirror much of the time as they talked. Normal people, even with their distant vision blocked, would not look at empty space 8 inches below their chins or above their foreheads.Next, replace the mirrors blocking all vision with normal windshield glass. Then, you will see average humans inside a moving car MOSTLY looking outside the car at all of the new visual stimulus beyond the car windows. Yes, they can speak with each other, but normal people in a moving car will mostly look outside of the car.WAITING FOR FOREVER is unnatural and completely -- totally -- unrealistic. It is unintentionally a very funny movie.
JaniceNicole Waiting For Forever is a cute, quirky movie with a lot of heart. It does a great job at making you feel happy, with its high contrast lighting and fun soundtrack. The cast does a great job at pulling you in, especially Tom Sturridge. He does a wonderful job portraying the carefree traveling street performer, but also brings on the strong emotion when it's needed. The use of flashbacks and the way Tom's character describes his young love really have you rooting for their love to blossom once again. The story gets a little confusing and slow towards the middle but the strong beginning and ending definitely make up for it.
TxMike We saw this on Netflix streaming movies.Rachel Bilson is Emma Twist, from Pennsylvania. When she grew up she moved to Los Angeles and became a TV star. She is dating her co-star, and figures they will get married, but she doesn't seem totally devoted to him. And he isn't a very nice guy. As a kid growing up Emma had a best friend, maybe even boyfriend, until they parted when they were 10. But the boy lost his parents in a tragic train wreck, and he was haunted by their presence, often turning aside and talking to them. As a young adult this boy is played by Brit Tom Sturridge as Will Donner. Unknown to Emma, Will has been moving to every place that Emma has lived, to be close to her, although he never was even bold enough to disclose his presence. His brother, a banker, thinks Will is "Effing crazy."Most of the story here is back home in Pennsylvania. Will works up the courage to tell Emma hello on the sidewalk by her home, she thinks by coincidence, but it was part of his "stalking." She isn't pleased when she learns the whole story, but movies of this sort have a way of working out.We enjoyed it.SPOILERS: Will is a funny, spontaneous guy. He is also a juggler. He has been working as a street entertainer, with face paint, in the various cities where Emma has lived, that is why she never recognized him. In the end Emma was able to show Will why his stalking was not right, but after he moved away to San Francisco and sent her a letter, she realized what he had hoped all along, they were soul mates, and she looked him up.
