rangerscustoms I have nothing but love and respect for Duvall, he has always been one of my favorites! Franco, and Hartnett are great as well. Now for my review. That female Ranger, the kids, and the latino mother asking about her son, as well as the fake tough guys.. Terrible actors, and have absolutely no business on screen!!! Obviously not smart enough to remember their lines, and always reading from cue cards. I made my IMDb account, just to leave this review. Absolutely the most horrid acting I have ever seen!!! Shame on you Robert for putting most of these fools in your movie, and especially the two Rangers!! Sheesh!!! I get that you are very old, and got yourself a pretty young ole lady, and she probably forced you to put her in a movie.. You should have told her no haha.. She is terrible!!!! She should stick to whatever she did before, cause obviously acting isn't for her.. Maybe underwear model? But actor?? Maybe as an extra walking by and zero lines! Just wow.... I wanna turn the movie off, and only 45 minutes into it, but I figure I may as well finish and get my money's worth since we bought the movie... I will be sure to avoid any movie Robert writes, directs, or has her on. Total robot reject..
Gordon-11 This film tells the story of a Texas ranger who opens up a case of a teenage boy who went missing fifteen years ago. This opens up the wounds in a ranch, where the head of the family disowns his gay son.I did not quite expect "Wild Horses" to be so emotional and touching. On the surface it is about the disappearance of Jimmy Davis, but the other subplot of Mr Briggs and the relationship with his children steals the site. It is almost inconceivable that he would treat two of his children in such a manner. The story also seeks redemption and forgiveness, which makes it even more powerful. It's an unexpected surprise, especially because it's not getting much love from the internet users. I wish more people would appreciate how beautiful this film is.
companyorder I'm glad that I scrolled down far enough to read Tony Heck's review. Was expecting something laughable, judging by the majority of comments but I knew that wouldn't be the case with a legend in the driving seat. Many harsh comments about his wife's acting. She was very natural/believable. I really enjoyed this film. A very decent story about a proud man of his time finally coming to terms with himself. And doing the 'right thing' (albeit at the end. I hope that that Mr. Duvall can churn out a few more films like this. He's in great shape for a man of his age and I doubt that he'd require any mounting aide in real life. Lovely touch with the cell phone in the opening scene and some wonderful shots of Texas. Must put it on my bucket list of places to see. Slainte
Bob Rutzel Scott Briggs (Duvall) is suspected of killing Jimmy Davis, his son Ben's (James Franco) gay lover 15-years ago and the Texas Rangers open the cold case. That is the main thrust in here, everything else is a disjointed v distraction. The script is bad, the acting by Duvall is not good and we are getting tired of him acting like a perpetual curmudgeon. Hey, it worked when he was Gus in Lonesome Dove but not in here. Everything he did was forced and had us cringing. Maybe writing, directing, acting and producing all of this took it's toll. Who knows? It just wasn't good. Notables: James Franco as Ben who comes back for the reading of the Will (yes, while Scott is still alive) and he tries to bond with his father; Josh Hartnett as KC, Scott's son; Devon Abner as Johnny, another son of Scott Briggs. However some scenes with them were awkward and forced. Luciana Pedraza as Samatha the Texas Ranger Detective seemed too tense throughout and kind of unsure of her presence. Many scenes were awkward and forced, but the real culprit is the script. Very bad. The story jumped around too much and we were not sure just what this movie was about. Sub plots: Jim Parrack as Sheriff's Deputy Rogers involved in watching Texas Ranger Samantha for Scott Briggs, and also involved in drug running; the reading of the Will when Briggs' sons find out that they have a sister in Maria (Angie Cepeda). If you keep in mind that the Texas Rangers are focusing on Scott Briggs as they feel he was somehow involved in the disappearance of Jimmy Davis 15-years ago, you should be okay. There is a resolution and we were not happy with it. Came up abruptly and we didn't believe it. Will you? (3/10)Violence: Yes. Sex: No. Nudity: No. Language: Soft stuff.
