anahita777 Adrien Brody did an excellent job and I wonder if without him this movie would even exist ! The problem is that in the trailer, we can see that he is a hostage ! This should have been absolutely avoided as the whole story is about the main character questioning himself who he is and what he has done ! There would be more suspense for us to find it out with him.So I was not captivated by the story, but if he will find out that he is not the one he thinks he is... As other people suggested, I think this would be a nice short movie. Thanks to Adrien Brody's talent, I could watch it until the end. My vote is more for the actor.
bcansevgisi I really enjoy watching movies in which a character has amnesia because this can add twists to even the most ordinary stories. However, this movie was an exception. I was really bored after the first 10 minutes. The reasons why I didn't like "Wrecked" is a long list but the main reasons are: the lack of decent dialogues (understandable since it's a one-man movie, but even the monologues consist of single words like "Oh" and "No"), the stupidity of Adrien Brody's character (He crawls uphill through the forest all the time with a busted knee and having no idea where he is going / burning stacks of money to keep warm at night in a forest where wood, branches and little twigs are very easy to come by), poor script writing (Adrien has the physical stamina to crawl aimlessly for days with having consumed only an ant, a worm and a couple of mint candies) Since I don't have a lot of space, I'll cut it short and will recommend this movie to anyone who has trouble sleeping because it is only good for putting its audience to sleep.
Joel T *Minor Spoilers Wrecked is a fantastic film. Don't get me wrong. However, there are many things that hold it back from being a truly magical and moving masterpiece. The movie, unfortunately suffers from a rather lethargic pacing, that, at times, reinforces the story and the struggle of Adrien Brody's character. Most often, though, the slow pace can lull the viewer into thinking that he'll never escape. For example, when he returned to his starting position, the car wreck, and it was revealed that he just went in a huge circle I wanted to lash out at the television. Perhaps this is just a instance of how the story can affect the viewer. Don't let the pace (or the bad survival skills of Brody) deter you. It's a wonderfully acted film with a captivating plot. Not a film to miss!
Robert W. The premise of Wrecked seemed near brilliant to me. I loved a good mystery, a dark thriller, and I think a one man show done right is brilliant. Consider Ryan Reynold's in Buried and then put it side by side and you'd see this for what it really is and that is a complete mess marred by boredom and a completely predictable mystery that should be anything but. The film drags through and often makes no sense as to why he does the things he does. I couldn't say exactly what would have made the script that much better but the story in its current form really falls flat.I think given the right role Academy Award winner Adrien Brody really impresses. But it really does need to be the right role. I just found him melodramatic and over-acted in this performance. I mean a one-man show like this could make or break an actor and while it started out okay, by the time he gets out of the car, I just didn't care for his character anymore. The special effects were decent for the damage done to his body during the accident so that helps with the performance but simply put...not enough.Canadian film maker Michael Greenspan might not have the experience required to handle a potentially heavy handed script like this one. You can really only watch Brody crawl around in circles once let alone for the better part of the entire film. The other major misstep is the mystery where Brody tries to figure out who he is and why he is where he is. The story is simply too predictable and I knew almost immediately where the idea was heading. I like to be kept guessing and I like a thriller to really truly thrill me. Brody's performance is not completely a waste and neither is the film but there is a ton of potential here that gets completely tossed somewhere in the transition. Skip this. 5.5/10
