Reviews

AdrienneGrayceMusic I grew up watching ALF, as I was born in 1980. I was always a fan of the show. Recently I heard the news of a reboot, so the inner child in me came right out with glee. I decided to watch old episodes of Alf, since they had them streaming on my amazon prime app. I forgot how funny ALF actually was. I never really paid attention to the storylines back in the 80s because I was only 7-9 years old. I remembered bits and pieces. I just watched all 4 seasons in 2 days and my ribs hurt so much from laughing so much. Its the one-liners that are hilarious. The writing is tremendous. I happen to be a fan of reboots, especially with shows I grew up watching. I can't wait to see what they do with this ALf reboot. Looking forward! If you haven't watched ALF yet, and were living under a rock all this time, I beg you to watch the show, from beginning. Love ALF!!
uscmd For some reason I never saw this when it originally aired. I watched the first episode and thought it was kind of funny in a quirky way. It won't let me post. Says I'm too short. So I'm forced to add a few lines of nonsense, my apologies. To be honest I think this is preferablem compared to my forcing a few lines of nonsense.Worth trying a few times.
James Ghent ALF was a great show for family entertainment value, it was clean and was very original at the time with a main character who was a wise cracking alien, the cast was all really good and it was actually pretty funny most of the time. My fave characters were the guy who played Willie and the Okmonaks next door (sorry if I spelled that wrong but you have to admit it's a tough name to spell).I loved this show when I was a kid. I picked up the DVDs for season one the other week and have to admit it is not as good as I remember but hey it's been like twenty years or whatever, it was an awesome show and I bet kids would still love it. The guy who played ALF or at least played the voice of ALF was perfect with great timing and all the good jokes in the show were ALF's wisecracks.
michaelrustage I remember ALF very well. Seasons 1 and 2 were fantastic. It was a different kind of show for the time. The star was a 3 foot tall brown alien named Gordon Shumway aka Alf who crashed on earth and was taken in by the Tanner family. It was a lovely idea and it took off really well. The show had a nice feel to it and it was aided tremendously by good stories, sharp sarcastic humour and a fast pace. This was the formula for the show which managed to last for 2 seasons and steadily picked up impressive audience figures. Seasons 3 and 4 however did not have the same effect. In fact, quite the reverse. What happened? Maybe we'll never know. For some reason after season 2 Alf failed to deliver. The show became slow, dull, repetitive and no longer had the funny stories or dialogue. The writers had obviously ran completely out of ideas. The show wasn't the only thing to change. The actors changed also. They looked totally bored to death. Not surprising really since they were given nothing to work with. The show just went down and down during the last 2 seasons and even though it picked up slightly in places, it lost viewers and continued to lose them at an alarming rate until the network finally pulled the plug. I personally think that they should have left it alone after season 2 when it was popular instead of trying to keep it going when there was no material left and having to leave it because viewers no longer cared.
