Reviews

Terry "Alice, I Think" is a great show!!! Finally there's a show out there in the TV universe that is funny and that can be seen by people of all ages: it's not "too stupid" for adults to watch it and not "too dirty" for kids (ok, there's a few references to sex, but nothing that should keep a child away). In fact, different ages can have a laugh for different reasons: from the funny faces to the witty comments, to the not-at-all-witty ones. And with actors of all ages, there's something for everyone. And I love the fact that it's 100% Canadian... a good change from all the shows shot in Canada that change the names of cities so that it "seems" everything takes place in America... hey, Yankees aren't the only ones who can make good TV! I wish I could go to see the real Smithers, one day! I really REALLY hope it goes on for many years, and can't wait for the DVDs to come out.
hkipp I've just started watching Alice I think with my family and we always get a good laugh out of the show! The writing is clever and witty and the characters do a great job performing this kind of satirical humor. I especially like Alice & the dad John and their quirky, awkward relationship. One of the episodes that sticks out in my mind is when John (Dan Payne) is asked to model for the local sport store...it is hilarious! It completely goes to his head and as he struts his stuff around the small town of Smithers thinking every woman MUST be in love with him, his family just shakes their heads! This is an original kind of TV comedy and we never miss it - we are looking forward to several more seasons of our new favorite comedy!
vickysg1 I found this programme to be absolutely hilarious! I was in hysterics from the word go! The cast seem to gel well together and Dan Payne was great as the dad, he certainly had some great lines that left me laughing! I have not read the books, but I may look into getting hold of them now. The show is told, in parts, from teenager Alice's point of view. However there is focus on both the parents and her brother too, giving those actors the chance to shine. I particularly enjoyed the fact that it wasn't just about Alice. The show has much potential and I would love to see it continue to grow. I would highly recommend this show to both adults and teens as it provides comedy for both levels.
Kim Behnert I had the chance to see the premier episode and I fell in love with it. I unfortunately live in the US and it probably won't be shown here but I have friends in Canada that might be able to tape it for me and send it down so I can see the future episodes. I love Dan Payne, he's fantastic in Stargate SG1 and Atlantis and I was incredibly pleased to see he had a new series. I've been lucky enough to meet him at conventions for the Stargate shows and I found out then that he was a comic genius. So, when I heard he was doing a comedy I couldn't wait to see it. I laughed out load and identified with his character as being much like my dad. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and hope it stays on the air forever. The cast worked well together and the storyline was well written, even the set was amazing, I love the house. I put my vote out there as excellent and I do hope Dan and the others have a long run and can make people laugh for many years to come. Kim
