Reviews

Slobodan Studovic This is not one of the best shows ever, but it certainly is one of the better, some people may like it some not, and I can see reasons for a both as i used to be very critical about TV series and films myself, till at one point I just realised that I had enough drama in real life, and perhaps is sometimes OK to switch of the brain, grab a soft drink, relax and enjoy. So yes, this show has some shortfalls but overall is great fun with some interesting characters and good humor , and there is even some moral to the story, would definitely recommend.
randymcbeast I've seen my share of bad TV but nothing compares to s01e10 of Battle Creek. This series is generally low IQ and is also grossly negligent when it comes to stereotyping, but I was just in shock at what they pulled with season 1 episode 10.Yes, this review does contain spoilers and here they are.The story goes like this. An inmate serves 20 years in prison and then 6 days before being released he breaks out. Now, many logical guesses were thrown out there during the episode with the best one being that his partner in crime, it was a bank robbery and murder by the way, was getting out a few days before him so he wanted to beat the partner to the stashed lute. They decided to throw that away though and instead go with this. During the bank robbery and murder, the brother of the inmate who broke out was the driver of the getaway car and was killed by someone who ran a red light. Before dying though, the brother made his inmate brother promise to attend his daughter's wedding, who was just a baby at the time of the robbery. So, the inmate breaks out 6 days before being released to make sure he attended the wedding. Of course, you are probably asking yourself, why didn't they just postpone the wedding? And as it so happens, the FBI agent who arrests him at the church asks him that very question. The answer, "The guy she is marrying is in the military and he ships out today." Yes, that was the answer they went with. The writers of this episode should be fired and should never be allowed to write another thing, ever! I mean, c'mon, if you were the niece getting married and your uncle was going to break out of prison after 20 years with 6 days left just to attend, you don't think you would have made a deal with the military branch your fiancé is enlisted with to wait a week before shipping him out? Unbelievable! Wow! I was just at the end of writing this review and wanted to first check the Wikipedia page to see if this series was picked up for a second season and saw this:"CBS announced on May 8, 2015, after only 9 episodes had aired, that Battle Creek would end after 13 episodes and not continue for a second season."LOL! I guess the 10th episode was so bad that it did the whole series in.
Siobhan Lydon I just saw Ep1. A cop in Battle Creek is under funded and unappreciated. His dept is over stretched. Instead of new resources his building gets an FBI agent who is the cool clean hero with more media presence. The 2 guys with their different styles deal with unoriginal story lines but America wins in the end and perhaps Battle Creek MI shines a tiny bit brighter.unfortunately the script is unoriginal and the women are characatures (or maybe the acting sucks). They are either 'doe eyed secretary' or 'ambitious bitch'It can't compare with Homeland, How to get away with Murder or any of the shows with women I like. I'm a woman and I'm going to spend my TV time watching show about women. Vera Drake, Scott & Bailey. The more I think about it the more shocked I am that for generations male characters have taken centre stage. Women are more complex, do more work, lead more interesting lives but perhaps male writers don't know the complexities of women.
pmurrey-98986 This show is awesome. It came out with the characters the same as a seasoned show. There was no waiting for the show to develop to where the characters made you feel they all are real and in sync with each other. Love the chemistry between all the characters, not just the 2 main figures. It adds depth to the story with how the different characters are involved with each other and alone. Even the music in the beginning really catches your attention. I always have to listen to it, never fast forwarding it to start the show. This show is fast paced and keeps your interest every step of the way. If someone doesn't like it, they can change the channel. There are enough dumb shows out there that should have been canceled by now that aren't. Let them watch those, but keep this one for those of us who like stories that are fast paced, multiple characters and make you feel like they could be real characters with real stories.
