rtownsend-51665 Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Bobby Flays cooking, and he definitely has skill, however this is such a farse! Several times I've tuned in and watched Bobby beat people when he clearly and admittedly had no clue how to make the dish much less make it amazing! This show is a setup obviously! Again, not that Bobby is a bad chef, but it's clear it's his show so his favor!
DKosty123 This show is the ultimate ego trip for Bobby Flay. It takes place on his home turf, he only has to win 1 round while any challenger has to win 2 rounds, and the judges from round 1 are not judging the final round. The only challenger advantage is they get to name their "signature" dish for Bobby Flay to make. Often Flay does seem to win though recently I saw him lose twice. There are always two judges who make things exciting by bothering Flay during the second round as he goes up against their choice chef to challenge him. Some of his major pests show up for more than one show. I'm going to retire Bobby Flay, but you know this does make cooking fun. Flay gets to name the food the challengers work with in the first round, and some of his choices are pretty outrageous. The humor is what makes this fun. It's like co-workers who like their job jabbing each other, trying to beat the big straw dog, Bobby Flay, in his own dog pound. When he gets beaten, it is just as fun as when he wins. When Flay wins, they give him a final word. Reminds me of Jerry Springer's routine, though there is little knowledge spoken in either instance.
chefsam-68037 I used to enjoy watching this show but the outcome is always the same. The competition topics are entertaining and interesting to see the different directions the chefs take in completing their dishes. However, there were plenty of times when the competitor's dishes were much better than Bobby's, yet he always seems to win. Every show that I have watched always ends with Bobby as the winner. I guess the judges must be biased... it's sometimes pretty obvious which dish belongs to whom. No longer watch the show because I already know who the winner is. Has there ever been a time when Bobby didn't win? If so, how many times has he lost and which episodes?
DEBORAH SMIT Every time I watch this show, they emphasize that the judges are completely unbiased. Yet, while they are critiquing the plates, the 2 chefs are standing there in front of them and grimacing when their plates receive any sort of criticism. The number of times this happens, and Bobby Flay wins, is extraordinary. The judges should judge without any influences - i.e. the chefs and audience. Its disappointing, and becoming very predictable. Also, there is a lot of times when Bobby's dish is NOT the best, yet he wins. Same happens in Iron Chef - I stopped watching because it didn't make sense - several of the guest chefs deserved to win. All quite political. Starts to resemble the Oscars.....
