chunter76422 I would rather watch 10-year-old Anthony Bourdain shows rather than hear one more irritating tenor-filled nasal-ly syllable from Josh Gates mouth! This show like all his others is completely ridiculous. There really isn't anything interesting about the travel locations because Gates ruins it with is stupid comments on everything.Don't waste your time with this or any of Josh Gate's 'shows'! He's nothing more than two-bit hawker.
djderka And you thought Jerry Springer was the bottom? Guess again. Destination Truth and Ghost Hunters are the new bottom. Springer is now like Masterpiece theaterIs Josh (the "camera" guy) supposed to be funny. Um...have you ever seen Chris Rock, John Stewart, Robin Williams, etc. Some have said this is parody. Of what? The parody was the South Park episode on this goofy concept. But you could easily watch this show and be in total awe of its stupidity and lack of originality.A parody is like um...Airplane 1 & 2 Scary Movie, 1,2,3,4 and now 5. Blazing Saddles.Unless this is a parody of itself meaning a parody of no concept. Show concept: Get about 12 cameras, including goofy ones wired in front of a cast member, helmet cams, foot cams, tree cams, cams on top of cams, infrared cams, flir cams, (note to self: invest in stock in cameras), and follow a 'crew' around looking for something that never happens...presto new TV concept for shows. Is this why no one really watches cable except for Burn Notice, Justified, Burning Bad. Don't you wish you could put those shows on your camera resume. But credit to SYFY. Let's suppose these "ghost busters" get some whopping fee like $500 week which would be overpaying for what they do. A staff of say 10 equals $5,000 for the cheapest program possible. If they can draw some 5000 eyeballs of low information idiots they can claim 'hey show us on cable'.The show could work if the guys get drunk all the time on shots of Jack Daniels, and got Katie out of those shapeless "ghost hunter' outfits and into outfits like the girls have on My Name is Earl, i.e. scantily clad females, the show would at the least have some eye candy. One guy could say, "hey I heard something weird, we have to get Katie into some cleavage outfits with tight shorts.Otherwise it is a bit fat zero....oh...wait...shhhh... I think I heard something outside...shh..hear that... (break to commercial). Repeat.
Owen Shock Every week when I'm flipping through the channels I see the same old cryptozoologic show, where the hosts and hostesses don't seem to care about what they are researching, and hardly even try for evidence. This is not the case with Destination Truth. Destination Truth is a great show, following cryptozoologists across the world as they look for evidence of many undetermined species, in other words, cryptids. Every week I bear witness to some bone chilling evidence, (although mostly there isn't quite enough to prove the existence of the cryptid) and the hardy, trying work of the hosts and hostesses. Destination Truth is a terrific show, and I would recommend it to any fans of the genre. I feel like I really do know Josh Gates, and that I'm tagging along with him during his globe trekking adventures to search for cryptids worldwide.
firepants49343 My biggest problem with this is the high and mighty attitude that the host has. "I here for the truth!" he announces with each episode. The problem is the truth better come out in the one night they spend researching a case. I can see coming into an area and doing the research with a healthy dose of skepticism, but they basically clown around, making more fun of the locals than anything, then spending only 8 hours or so doing any actual research. They NEVER find anything, but they certainly do a lot of running around chasing the illusive whatever they are hunting that week. Then as soon as day breaks, no matter how close they were to getting some real answers, they pack up and head out. It takes them longer to get there than to investigate. Plus my biggest issue with this show and with Ghosthunters is all of the stuff that they both claim to see and hear, but by the time the cameraman points in the right direction its gone. The cameras worn by the team are a great idea, but I didn't tune in to see your damn faces! TURN THE DAMN CAMERAS AROUND! Let us see what you see, when you see it! I know what you look like, and I prefer not to see you up close!
