Reviews

Angels_Review When I was really little, I fell in love with the show but I didn't know how chopped up the English dub was. Now that I'm older and know more anime, have watched shows that come straight from Japan, and have actually noticed when the voices are re-scripted, I can tell I actually missed a lot of the story line because of the re-script. This show was not created for young kids in the American idea. They pretty much did a '4 kids' on it though luckily, they didn't do it to much. The whole idea of 'children should be left clueless' makes me feel a little stupid. If children are clueless about the world, with things like pain or dying, then the will be shocked when it happens around them in the real world. It's strange that they did this because even as a small child, I knew what was happening to the characters without anyone saying anything, so the change that they did was unneeded. The story was originally going to be 12 episodes and then because of how well it was received, they added more episodes. Now, I am still on the edge about if this was a good thing or not. I liked that they put more depth into the characters and the story lines made sure you could see the characters grow. Unfortunately, as with all shows that have way too many characters in the spotlight, we end up seeing more of one character then the others. Also some grow to a certain point and don't really grow beyond that. This annoys me because it means that they really don't seem that important. (Although if you watch Digimon Adventures 02, this one seems better in character development.) I would have loved to see more of the characters backgrounds rather then little bits of three or four characters.Out of all the characters, I have to say my favorite is Matt. I'm not sure exactly why I fell in love with him but maybe it's because I have a little brother as well. I found it interesting that his name was changed when they took it to English dubs, but I learned after that it is pretty normal. The bad guys are very one dimensional. They are only against the others just because they are programmed too; at least, that's how it sounds. I wish they could have added a bit more to them but at least they each have a type of personality. The English voices are pretty good and bounce off each other nicely. I really don't like one or two of the characters though. If I have to listen to Mimi crying again though, someone will end up being hurt. She is so annoying in her voice that I really wish they had changed it a bit.
leader-16 Another childhood favorite, i watched this show every chance i could, i was a huge fan. I had the toys, movies, posters, and all that fun stuff. I liked how it evolved in time, like the first few years or so, they were young, then they grew up, i never got bored watching this. Ah, it brings back good memories.I cant remember what grade i was in when it showed, probably third or fourth, it don't matter now, that was like 8 years ago. But still this will always be a classic, it's compared to Pokémon, which now the new series is awful.I loved all the characters, TAI was my favorite.8 out of 10 i give this.
vip_ebriega It's quite hard to sum up an entire review of all 4 seasons of "Digimon" in one review, for frankly, their pretty much a mixed bag. So I just lined up a review for every season. The only thing I can say here is that I like this way better than "Pokemon", save that for the kiddies, this one was more absorbing.(Take note: since it's a TV series, my grades will be in the form of letters, not stars).Digimon Adventure (Season 1): A good start, with lots of fun bits and an adventurous and more mature plot that the "Pokemon" series much missed. Great build up, and made with a lot of interest. Now available on DVDs. Season rating: B. Digimon 02 (Season 2): This was the best season by far. A great plot and every episode is full off interest. The ending was rather as spoil with some, this season was still above average. Season rating: A.Digimon Tamers (Season 3): The second best in the series. This one also has the most advance and intelligent plot of the three. Doesn't have anything much to do with the first two, but it's plot as superb. Season Rating: A. Digimon Frontier (Season 4): This was the downfall on the franchise. Not only does it have no relation with the previous seasons, but it also has a less-interesting plot and less-appealing characters. Season Rating: D.
daily_angel i first saw Digimon when it was aired on fox kids. from the first episode it caught my attention and i loved it very much.i know many people say it's a rip off Pokémon but actually Digimon excised almost ten years earlier and the only two things they have in common is the ending of the name (mon) and the fact that the kids are together with cute and strange figuresDigimon is an very matured series, even though it seems to be for young kids. The kids stuck in Digiworld have the same problems as everyone has, like Izzy being adopted, Sora's bond with her mother, Matt and T.k's divorced parents, Joe's tough dad, spoiled Mimi and Tai's older brother role over Kari.the kids are on summer camp when they become stuck in the Digiworld and meet all these strange creatures and befriend some of them. they have to work together with them to save their world. these kids have to be unselfish and fight for something like they never had to do. because of this they become more mature and get great personality.Digimon is never without problems but even through the fighting there are lighter moments and times which makes the show easy to watch even for the younger watchers.if anything, people can learn great things from Digimon cause not only is it entertaining, it also educates the watchers without it being strange or stupid.it has been a very long time since i saw Digimon but i still miss it a lot. the show is fit for young and old.i rate this show a 9 cause even though there are some errors and flaws in the show. the characters are so well worked out that you can live into them without trouble and understand all of their emotions. besides the plot is nicely worked out without questions being left in the end.
