My wife and I enjoyed this. Don't know why people dislike it so much. Perhaps they are taking it too seriously.

I started watching the series Divorce with expectation of a comedy. The actors and the theme seemed promising.
I should tell you that in just 4-5 series I stopped watching it.
Don't take me wrong. I do appreciate the labour and the efforts of everyone working on this series and that's why I will tell you exactly what I didn't like:
1. While I was watching, I thought that almost each character is lobotomised. I can't believe that all of them are represented as irresponsible and reckless and at the same time - so dear, sad, sensitive and nice. These features of person's character are not compatible. Watching the main character in Divorce was like you are watching children who have adult problems - scared, naive and helpless at the same time.
2. You can learn nothing new in "Divorce". Its not a comedy, but a deep, deep drama with no answers to real life. To me it was total waste of time.I wouldn't mind give it a chance if you change the main 3 actors - Parker, Tracy Letts, Talia Balsam.

The only reason to watch this series would be Sarah Jessica Parker, that is if you're a big fan (and like most Hollywood actors she could not resist some unfortunate face changing Botox). Otherwise the male lead (T.S. Church) is quite unbearable: really mediocre acting, miscast, boring and unlikeable character. The script is slow and tedious at least after the third episode. The husband's never ending angry comments are not only exaggerated and tasteless but delivered in a totally unconvincing manner. There is definitely no chemistry between the two and no hint of humour -which is too bad because SJP's kind of acting is generally better suited for romcoms. The story is in desperate need of something: a better rhythm, a different male protagonist, a better dialogue or at least a decent subplot but even that wouldn't be enough to save it. I don't think the series will last long.

Most all remember the glory days of Sarah Jessica Parker and "Sex and the City" when she was a young single lady who was free spirited and slept around a lot while having fun with her girl pals. Well enter now it's a different side of Sarah with this new HBO series called "Divorce" as Jessica Parker plays Frances a grown up lady who's married with kids and you guessed it all of a sudden she wants a change she tells her strong and hard working husband Robert(Thomas Haden Church)that she wants a divorce! What was it boredom, lack of sex, the want and need for a new start, or just a change of life. Anyway those questions will try to be answered in this long drawn out divorce, it's clear that Frances and Robert are a clear example of a couple who showcase the ups and downs of life. As Frances has already had an affair with another guy, so just maybe Robert wasn't up to par in bed? Or is it just a woman's world to change her world, mind, and life all at once. The series is supported just fine by Frances's best friend the neurotic Diane(Molly Shannon)who's another unhappy married woman. This series showcases a lot of questions and it will try it's best to answer them still it's proves that life, family, love and most of all marriage is complex.
