hellraiser7 I'm personally not a history buff, but I do study up on in sometimes depending on the subject matter and person. I'll admit sometimes whenever history was being taught or I had to watch a certain documentary I really got bored to tears, it could be because of lousy presentation, the hypnotic monotone as if the speaker is bored himself, or the subject matter just doesn't grab in. This is a show that strangely makes history fun. This is another honorable mention in skit comidies (ok, not exactly a skit comidy but since it consists of three short parodies it's close) that I really like and it's on a subject that is rarely parodied on which is history; let alone there really aren't that many historical comidies I know except "Black Addler" but that's a different story. You can also say this show is kinda an educational comidy as it is depicting real events, in it's inaccuracy.I really like each of the speakers whom consist of actors, comdians, host, etc. It's not just funny seeing each of them tell the story of a historic event but also seeing each of them act contrary to themselves because their doing this while hammered, liquir can make you do and say some crazy crap. Most of what each of them say or performed was actually improved or at least it looked improved, all the same it was really funny. And of course the reinactments are just hillarous, I really like the production value on each of them as they really are up to par including the wardrobe. Though what makes them funny are each of the cast members that play the historical characters; there is just a corn a copia of them it's always fun seeing who's playing who, and each of the cast are having fun doing it. It also makes each episode a supprise where I never know who is going to play who next, the possibiltes are just wild and almost endless. It's true that each of them don't look anything like those figures but that the comidy on the notion of reinactments because actors in them most of the time never look anything like their real life counterparts. Though what's even funner is the fact that each of the actors are lipsyncing and acting out the emotions of the narrator. It really makes sense when you think about it because this is an event from their perspective and when you tell a story out loud your doing it in your own voice.I really like how each of the stories play out as it's kinda both visual and verbal humor corilating together. It's when those inaccuracies kick in that's where it's really funny; anyone that knows history would easily know that this and that didn't happen, or that figure never existed. There is funny not just because of how incorrect it is but that it's actually kinda true sometimes most history turns out wrong due to some new findings. Some records get lost and we tend to fill in the blanks as best we can. But also most of the time whenever we read or told about history we really are using our own imaginations about what happened back them because we never lived in that decade or were never really there when it happened, so how would we really know what really happened or what else.Drunk History makes history well sort of.Rating: 3 and a half stars.
Harrison Tweed (Top Dawg) OK this show is addictive! This has to be the best (and probably only) educational comedy every made! There isn't one episode I didn't learn something, or laugh out loud! Want to make America smarter? Add this show as required curriculum at every high school in America. For that matter, create more shows like this for every subject! Bravo to the creator and producers of this gem of a show! A perfect 10/10 (also my History test score!) from me
sellzmktng01 A very unique approach to telling history, I must say. I like how they usually start off at a bar and get some introspection from intelligent people regarding what the ultimate discussions will be about. Just watching a bland, dry documentary there is a loss as to what regular people think and feel about a particular subject. This series offers that in spades. The actual story is great because not only is it appealing to a college crowd and fun people, the story tellers go into details and even discuss historic figures who never make in the regular history books, and deserve some credit not administered by the mainstream. If you like South Park and Family Guy, you'll definitely enjoy these shows, and maybe learn something new in the process.
chipdfctoo as my summary states, unfortunately on my own behalf... i can attest to the multitude of drunken states of our narrators. i am and always have been (at least of the comprehensible age) been "that drunk guy". the thing that makes me love this show so damn much, the drunker i get... the smarter i feel, the more i know, the absolute truth comes from deep within.i get a good giggle out of the naysayer that claims "oh it's staged", i might be a drunkard but i am not naive. sure enough the script is read in a relatively sober state, and drunken context is added. right up until "the i'm feelin' so good, it's bad" state of inebriation. i do not doubt for a second if a gentlemen showed up with a quality fifth of scotch, asked me to polish it off and then "read this" that i would more than likely spit out some quality comedy gold.this show, with the wonderful acting and pantomiming is without a doubt the funniest show on TV. it will only gain in greatness if, and when, it branches out into the international circuit of this amazing planet. just imagine the wonderful accents! cheers my friends, drinks up to a good evening.
