cathylr By the creater of the Simpson. It is a bit the same ambience, very imaginative, with characters high in color and new ideas at each episode. Whether you had a good or a bad day, just sit down and enjoy!
stampdj I honestly love this show I have so many words that I couldn't all of them hear Honestly my favorite show ever it is the G.O.A.T of television
TheBlueHairedLawyer In my opinion (and before anybody bites my head off it's just my opinion and not an objective fact), The Simpsons was a much better show, both because the comedy was more relatable to typical North American suburbia life, and because no matter what went down, humour or violence or adventure or mayhem, at the end of the day ultimately the Simpson Family love each other and learn to excel in their own dysfunction. Futurama is undoubtedly imaginative and well-animated; in the same cartoon style as The Simpsons, it follows an underachieving delivery boy, Fry, whose life at the dawn of the Millennium (1999) goes unnoticed and unappreciated by everybody around him. A mishap whisks him far into the future, a future city to be exact which is a technological marvel where aliens are commonplace and teleportation is as typical as the air we breathe - and Fry discovers a place where perhaps he truly belongs and fits in. Other characters include tough purple-haired cyclops-like Leela, wisecracking, crass and cynical robot Bender, elderly but brilliant scientist Cubert Farnsworth, and Amy, who comes from a wealthy family, just to name a few.Although Futurama offers a universe as widely developed as Springfield if not even more-so, its sci-fi plot is so predictable after a few seasons that I just stopped caring. Like Dr. Who, what started off as brilliant quickly became repetitive and geeky, and Futurama also became one of those unfortunate examples of a cartoon that stoops to using crude humour as a crutch. I mean look, I'm not six years old, I can take a few sex jokes and fart noises, but it's lazy and without any purpose, and just makes the show itself appear sloppy. Futurama also began suffering from numerous obvious tropes and eventually just stopped being interesting to me. I know I keep making a lot of comparisons with The Simpsons, but The Simpsons to me was always unpredictable, witty and more character-driven, even in its dismal more recent seasons. Futurama just tries way too hard sometimes, and I think it hides behind the flashy screen of science fiction and low-brow comedy to mask that beneath all that, there's really not much substance or emotion. To be fair though, there are some truly unforgettable, touching and hilarious scenes in Futurama, as well as mysteries in the past lives of the main characters, making it definitely worth watching just to see how everything unfolds. And unlike Rick & Morty, Futurama doesn't put up a pseudo-intellectual nihilism smokescreen or try to find comedy in rape or paedophilia. The great thing about Matt Groening's work is that it pushes boundaries, sometimes even grosses out or offends, but it always knows where to draw the line and how to execute a good joke, reference or gag without seeking out bad shock value.
Lee Eisenberg I had been watching "The Simpsons" for ten years when I learned that Matt Groening was creating a second show. I figured that this new one might be interesting, especially since it would depict a man from the 20th century getting cryogenically frozen and waking up 1,000 years in the future. Well, despite a few funny lines, "Futurama" turned out to be a wasted effort. Bland, uninspired story lines made the show a real cop-out. It should come as no surprise that "Futurama" eventually ended while "The Simpsons" is still on. A few years ago there was a crossover episode between the shows, and that's as much as we need.In conclusion, avoid "Futurama". Matt Groening's other show is the one to stick with.
