Reviews

LVmomt This is a movie from childhood I remembered fondly enough I had to Netflix it. Harper Valley's PTA decides that widowed door to door makeup saleswoman Stella Johnson is not proper enough for the image the school wishes parents to project. She dresses too sexy and has a social life*gasp*. The PTA sends home a nasty condescending letter via Stella's daughter and of course Stella's upset-which causes her to begin a mission to expose the towns hypocrisy. The hi-jinks involved exposing the PTA are pretty seventh grade, but this was the same era that produced the Duke boys wreaking havoc on Hazzard-actually, this movie has a very similar feel to the Dukes Of Hazzard. This day and age there are still people who frown upon single mothers being beautiful and sexy so I suppose it could still get a laugh or two.
Syl I remember this show vaguely but I remember it fondly because I liked it not just because of the hit song or the film because I never really saw the film itself. I remember the series as funny and wickedly charming with Barbara Eden in the leading role. I remember Fannie Flagg too as her best friend. It was about a woman who was somebody that deemed inappropriate in Harvey Valley. When she gets involved with Harper Valley P.T.A., they are in for a shock. She is no bubble-headed bimbo as they liked to think of her. She has a brain and the guts to take the snobs of Harper Valley head on. Maybe the show was a little less Hollywood and New York and more American because I remember it was mostly shot outside and without a laugh-track. I hope they bring it out on DVD because I would like to revisit who I considered to be old friends. It was a good show that could have lasted more than one season.
Great-4 The story Of Stella Johnson a door to door saleswoman who Lived in Harper Valley, who Lost her husband and had build a Brand New Life with her teenage daughter Dee who went to School At Harper Valley Junior high School. The wealthy Flora Simpson Reilly the Villain in the show, was kind of A Female version of JR Ewing.Flora was The President Of The Harper Valley P.T.A. and tried to control all of Harper Valley.A Very Funny Show.
